Can you still eat the egg if it has the blood spot?

How do I get those metal tags off baby chicks that were put on them when I purchased them from our local store? I thought they'd slide right off, but they are metal and I am afraid I'll hurt my chicks! I'm new to this, so any suggestions will help!

Thanks, I have the lamp on them--I don't have a thermometer, can I get them too hot? I don't want to cook them! Gosh, I feel like I felt when I brought my first child home from the hospital. So many worries about being able to keep the little ones alive!
