One of my MIA guineas showed up with 5 keets tonight. I'll have no game feed or chick starter till tomorrow night. What can I feed them tonight? I have layer and scratch which I'm pretty sure is a no. I do have rabbit, pig and guinea pig food?
Barn got left open last night, we're thinking this poor guy was the first one out of the barn this morning and whatever it was was waiting for him. Neck and legs in tact. It was a 4 month old Bronze so good sized guy with a lot of fight in him. He was dragged about 20 feet from the opening of...
Can someone explain this? Four of his mates have hatched, but this one looks way under developed. I left him in the turner when I put the others in lockdown. He really is not progressing at all, but there is a LOT of movement in the egg. He is definitely alive. How did this happen? I'm going to...
I've got duck eggs that are about to end day 29. One has been pipped for 48 hours, but has zipped about 1/4 of the egg overnight. Not seeing anything from that egg at the moment, wondering if now is the time to step in, but worried about hurting the other three pipped eggs, then again only one...
the first egg to pip did so right at 48 hours ago. It's made progress over the last day, but I'm getting ansy. It's about a 1/4 around zipped. It's almost to the end of day 29.
I have 6 duck eggs due for lockdown tomorrow on day 25. Four look ready, two are a little behind developing, but they are still alive. Should I put them all on lock down or move the four that look ready to the hatcher and give the other two a few more days in the turner?

So I have one pipping at the small end, a local chicken keeper said she usually helps those since they are starting on the wrong foot. So, I broke the membrane, which was REALLY tough, I eased a bit back where the thing could breath, wrapped it in a wet towel, put it back, waited a while and...
So far it looks like they are growing! I've got a dozen cornish rocks and 9 swedish ducks. I think I've only got one of each that have failed. Anxiously awaiting lockdown, anybody else?
There is tons of conflicting opinions on how to handle humidity and temp when hatching chickens and ducks together. If you've done it before would you tell me exactly what you did?
Is it really as complicated as Storey makes it out to be?
All the info on the web is so confusing. Turn them every 8 hours, turn them every hour, don't turn them? Start temp at 99.5 or 100.5? Lower temp a half or full degree a few days before hatch? Up humidity to 85 or 75 percent a couple...
I've read up on it, but wondering what any of you might add? Any surprises or tricks you've picked up to help the process. We're aiming to get 5 done tonight, that's about all we can age in our fridge at once anyway. I'm a bit nervous about opening the body w/o cutting into something, hopefully...
One exsisting hen in coop - added 9 - 5 week olds two weeks ago - decided to add 2 more night before last. They came from the same brooder as the previous 9, but apparently they have forgotten them already. They are picking on both of them, but one is so terrified she won't come off the waterer...
I have two birds that have very sratchy voices, its not like a crow its when I pick them up, when they get picked on, etc. No one else has this voice but these two, so should I be thinking roo or should I just treat them like the girls with the annoying laugh?
Okay I know I'm over thinking this, but humor me please?
We are doing a slanted roof, so how do I figure the other two angles for my right triangle? 4' 6" wide and 18" tall.
am I doing something wrong? or is this normal? Even the pullets that are almost fully feathered have bare breasts still. Am I not changing the litter enough? am I feeding them too much? or am I just over analyzing?
First four ameraucanas.
This one I'm fairly sure is female.
The twins - fairly sure are female.
Roo?
I posted this one earlier - pretty sure this one is a roo
These last three look very much alike, they are mystery chics - breed and sex help? I'm pretty sure one is roo...
Thanks...
I'll try to get a pic of it standing a bit later. That is another ameraucana laying next to this one. Notice the comb difference, the white/buff comb looks more like the rest of my pullets.
