Oh wow thats too bad :( I'm sorry! Ya I'm hoping it turns out ok because this is the last chance I have to incubate eggs for a long time. I leave on Feb 14th for the Air Force and so I really wanted to see some chicks before I leave (Although Idk how much my Mom likes the idea of me leaving 15...
Thanks I thought it was pretty cool too! My hen (We named her meaty) was about 7 and a half months old I think. I got her May 16th, She was the only one of that breed I ordered just to see if I could raise her to reproduction age... And it worked!!! Haha I would love to train her to lay in the...
My chickens are just now getting to egg laying age and all of a sudden I found an egg on the ground that was a little lighter than my other hen's and it was more circular but I thought my trusty hen was just not feeling well because there was no egg in the egg box. But a few days later and today...
I started about 15 eggs on the 10th but I was told the wrong temperature. My incubator has been set between 93 and 95 degrees since then. Is it too late for those eggs or will I be fine just bumping up the temp to 100 now?
I'm sure the temp is fine. She wouldn't sit if she wouldn't be able to raise the chicks. Mother's no best right? Haha or thats what mine always tells me.
I didn't say any color. The ones I see usually are brown hens and reddish roosters. From looking at pictures it looks like Old English Bantams. What hatchery would be a good one to order these chickens from? Are Sebrights that small also? Because they are also beautiful chickens.

most bantams are that small. i think the bigegst bantam i had was a cochin or Rhode Island Red bantam
We have had quite a few silkies in the past and they seem to be just a little bit smaller than our regular chickens... but they are considered to be bantams right?
So English Game Bantam's are also super small like that? I looked up pictures of Serama's and it looks like the kind I've seen. Now I'll go look up English Game Bantams.
Ok thank you so much! I was thinking golf balls too but thought I'd ask first And ya I have hatched many times before but wasn't sure about the different dates.
I often see these tiny little chickens at livestock auction but I don't know what the actual breed name is for it. Right now I can't buy any because we don't have a spot for them, but I want to soon. Does anyone know what the actual breed name for miniature chickens are? Not just bantams but...
Question 1: Should I leave one egg in the nest box everyday so the chickens will be encouraged to lay there untill they get used to it?
Question 2: If I should, then where should I get a wooden egg or something so I can collect all the regular eggs and know that one won't get old in the box...
