I may have a buff Jersey giant chick. It is a gorgeous buff color, and twice the size of all the other chicks, so we call her GI-NORMASAUR ( or Eleanor to my daughter). She makes our little silver bantam look puny! All the chicks are only 3 weeks old, and starting to feather........so cute when...
Update on Funky Chick..........Peggy gave it a valiant try, but passed away on Friday. She was doing better, even standing on the weird leg( it was broken BTW) and was joined in death by her pal Rosie the same day. Both were rather puny and just couldn't handle this life. They are now playing...
Afraid I didn't get any pics of her. Peggy died on Friday, but really gave it a go. She will be missed, but has a friend,(Rosie) who passed around the same time. They are both playing in the forever fields now.
We decided to start a homemade bator, so we can get started this month. Power is promised by the end of the week. (yeah right- they said that in December) We have a few little chicks right now that are from Ideal........very cute, but one has a broken leg that seems to be healing at an odd...
Thanks for the help.......trying the massage thing, as it seemed to help a little last night. She's still eating and drinking and playing like the others. If she's doing better, I thank you greatly. I'll let you know if she doesn't make it. Michelle
Hey everyone....need some help with a young chick. She has a swollen, sometimes cold, foot that she sometimes pecks at. She is eating and drinking well, plays with the other chicks, and hops onto my hand when I put it in her area. What could cause the inflamation and how do I care for it...
Hey y'all......I just a baby chick approx. 1-2 days old with an enlarged foot. The person I got it from said it was hatched that way. What could cause this, and how do you treat it? She's a pretty little pullet, and I really want her to grow up with the others we got with her. Any suggestions...
Beautiful Girls there! Really like your rooster too. Not sure we're up to egg hatching yet........Power company is messing around with connecting to the barn. No power, no chicks. Michelle
I can't wait to be able to join you guys in hatching! We're still setting up the barn with electricity and getting our areas made for chicks and incubators. EEEEEEk! I want little peeps soooooooooo badly! Plus, I figure it'll be good for my little chicks(kids) to learn (ooooh, bad word!) about...
Hello....My farming partner and I are looking for good breeding and laying stock in chickens. Will you have some yourself? We are very interested in buying to expand our current flock. We are in Citrus County, and not really near anywhere but Ocala(even then, it takes about an hour to get there).
Thanks for the info guys....now what do you with hens that just plain don't want to lay, and aren't more than 2 yrs old? We have about thirty hens, and only get about a dozen eggs each day. very frustrating!
These are pretty little chicks! Will you have more in the new few weeks? We're still setting up our barn for newbies to our flock. Please, please, please, please say yes!
