    Beside of having a rooster within the flock you may want to add a guinea fowl (or a a couple?). Guinea fowl get a long with chicken very well. They do hear a bussard or a fox a long time before other chicken do and will warn the others. Great article !!!

    Inept Roo?

    Is there a possibility that he might not reach the proper place when transfering? It might help to cut feathers at the roo and the hens in the area (Orpington have that problem a lot). The other possibility is, that the chicken do not have 14 hours with light. Rooster need at least 14 hours...

    Hi, it´s the rooster job to protect his hen - so your rooster is doing his job. Unfortunately he is doing his job to well. There is actually just one solution: chicken soup! I wouldn´t use this rooster for breeding since agressive behavior will come back in the next generation. Sorry silkie...
