FERAL CAT EATING ALL THE EGGS, HOw STOP HER?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You could also do a Roll Away Nesting box, once the chicken lays the egg it rolls away from them into a protected area where it is difficult to get at. There is plenty of examples on here if you search and here's the one I've drawn up for my coop. The floor is at a slight angle so the egg...

Opinions Plz: Durango woman’s dog shot, killed after chicken attack

Here in UT I believe it could possibly fall under animal cruelty laws, I'm guessing it would depend on the prosecuting attorney and how they saw the facts, but a dog with paintball marks all over it and no injured livestock would look good.

Opinions Plz: Durango woman’s dog shot, killed after chicken attack

Quote: How are your reading comprehension skills? poor to none? The story is about a dog attacking and killing livestock not humans, and its your responsibility as a pet owner to restrain your pet and to keep it off of others private property. If you fail in your duties the owner of the...

Opinions Plz: Durango woman’s dog shot, killed after chicken attack

If I was the owner of the chickens that were killed I would have her and her friend that was in charge of the dog in court, she wouldn't have time to be trying to repeal laws that are in place to protect livestock. Oh and if she (or her dog sitter) would have followed the law...

poll: are you legal or an outlaw?

I'm legal to have a certain amount of chickens, but once I have my flock I will be 3-4 times the "legal" limit. The limit is just a arbitrary number some fat politician came up with have no/limited knowledge of chickens, I won't/don't feel bad about being an outlaw at all.

Quote: Hi Jeremy! Meat birds? Wyondottes...any silvers? lol..trying to find a girl! My older brother buys boilers for meat birds, I only help process them at the end of the season. I don't have any birds yet but when I do get my flock I will be looking to get wyandottes for the majority.

question on how to interperet city code

It was my fault for not posting the entire code, I did not receive a response to my email which I kind of expected due to the holidays. Hopefully I will get a response by Tuesday, I guess the only thing it will change by knowing one way or another is how careful I am about people knowing the...

    Gassing

I use a kill cone, and hedge shears, I restrain their feet and place a small weight attached to a rope with a slip knot around the neck to stretch it out. After few mins upside down they're very calm, most likely due to the blood rush to the head. A quick snip with the shears and its over with...

Quote: Hi neighbor! I'm in Clinton! I've got 7 golden laced wyandottes incubating right now, due to hatch 1/8. Does your brother process his own meat birds? We're contemplating getting some this spring. It was my dh's idea, oddly enough. He just watched Food, Inc., and thought that maybe...

Just thought I would drop in and say hello since I finally stopped lurking and registered, my name is Jeremy and I live in west point. My older brother lives in plain city and has given me the chicken bug, he keeps a flock of 30+ egg layers over the winter and does 50 or so meat birds in the...

question on how to interperet city code

My lot is .38 of an acre which after doing the math ends at 18 points for my lot, so if its 5 points per bird it ends up being 3. Only allowing 3 chickens on a lot just under half an acre doesn't make sense to me, even the run/coop setup I am planning is over sized for the 10-15 chickens that I...

question on how to interperet city code

I'll have to call and ask the city which it is, they way I read it is by animal type (which is implied by pluralization of the animal names by the points) worst thing that can happen is I find out you guys are correct and I end up with an illegal flock like my neighbor who has a smaller lot and...
