I was told this was a Cochin?

Hmmm, so is the rose comb the only difference between the hamburg and the campines?

I was told this was a Cochin?

Thanks! I don't care too much about the feathered feet, I just like to know what I have!

I was told this was a Cochin?

But she doesn't have feathers around the feet...is it something else? She has gray legs and feet. I know the smaller one is a campine

Can you tell me which of these are Roos? Buff, wyandotte

I'm just not certain. Are the larger buff and the Wyandotte Roos?

Help with Sex of 5 chickens, please. (Buffs, blue laced wyandottes, splash)

Thank you, everyone! I'm bummed about having to get rid of the 3, but better to do it sooner than later, I guess. We just can't keep roos in our suburb.

Help with Sex of 5 chickens, please. (Buffs, blue laced wyandottes, splash)

So farmerChef, you're saying 3 cockerels, too? Or are both the darker Wyandottes cockerels, and also the light blue one, and the front Buff?

Help with Sex of 5 chickens, please. (Buffs, blue laced wyandottes, splash)

Aw man! 3 of them?! Great, now I'll have to introduce some new hens to get the 4 I wanted to have. lol So is it the Buff that's in front in the pic that has both of them?

Help with Sex of 5 chickens, please. (Buffs, blue laced wyandottes, splash)

You can also correct me on the breed if I'm wrong! blue laced red wyandotte, 7 weeks here are both blue laced red wyandottes, i know its hard to see the other one, but I'm pretty sure that one's a hen. 2 buff orps, 7 weeks (and a glimpse of the more black wyandotte from earlier)...

Think it's too cold for your chickens? Think again...

Thanks everyone. Our night time lows right now are in the 30s, but they are inside. Thanks for the suggestions.

Think it's too cold for your chickens? Think again...

Ok, I'm from Texas. (Yeah, I know. We don't really 'get' winter. lol) This is my first time with baby chicks, though. I have some two week old chicks and some one week old ones that I got from a lady who kept them under a lamp. My question is, should I slowly wean them from the lamp, or should I...

    One Weeker with Two Weekers

I just picked up 5 chicks today and brought them home. The 2 weekers are doing fine, but the 1 weeker is getting trampled on as he tries to sleep under the light, and also is trying to crawl underneath the older ones. Should I separate it, or just let it figure it out? TIA!!

    Heat Exhaustion or Egg Bound?

Thank you. She seemed to perk up a bit when we put her in the dirt and put her in a shallow bath. She was hunting for bugs after that, but her tail is still droopy and she's walking funny.

    Heat Exhaustion or Egg Bound?

My oldest hen, Ethel, was in the coop this evening standing there panting pretty heavily. Its been about 106 today, and normally they're in the shade of the outdoor run about this time. Her tail is very droopy and she's walking slowly. She also let us pick her up (to move her to a dirt spot in...

Teaching Older Hens to Free Range

I bought my two hens when they were about 13-14 weeks old and they did not grow up with much of a chance to free range. I've had them about 3 months and during that time they've only come out of their enclosed run a handful of times to peck around the grass and bugs. Should I try spacing out how...

    Pictures of a chicken bath!

That is too cute! I love how they almost look dead when they're spread out on the ground. Not intending that to be offensive of course.

    Of course...right before a storm.

Thanks! They did really well with me snapping their pic so close.

    Of course...right before a storm.

Here I've been trying to coax my two ladies out of their enclosed run for a week, and today, an hour before a major thunderstorm, they decide they want to take full advantage of the run and scope out the place. No complaints here, I'm glad they finally came around but I didn't suspect it...
