Gah! I want her!! She is lovely, such a unique coloration. I see you are asking a lot of questions about letting a broody hatch eggs. I have had bad luck leaving hens in with my flock, or even separated with other moms. Maybe I just have one or two super mean moms, but I have had hens kill the...
After a few years of breeding black and blue mottles as well as regular milles, my gene pool is pretty colorful. Hikee has a regular mille mom and dad that is a blue mottled with gold leakage.
Here are some updated pics of my babies. People wanted to see what the first chick looked like as he got older so i posted a chick pic and a recent teenage pic.

I have no idea guys, but I am super excited about it! It looks like a tortoiseshell cat! All I bred were milles, black mottleds and blue mottled with some gold leakage. It will most likely end up being just a black mottled with gold leakage, but you never know, I will post pics as the little guy...
Ugh, the power going out while I am incubating is my worst fear! I have thought about investing in some sort of battery you can use as a backup, but I think they are pretty pricey.
SpeckledHen,
I don't know if this will help you or not, but a few years ago I had a d'uccle rooster that had a mystery bump right on his cheek. It was rock hard and just kept getting bigger and bigger. I took some clear fluid tinged with a bit of blood out of it, but it would just fill right...
I reference to the posts about pasty butt, I read somewhere that giving chicks a little bit of dirt is a good cure. For the last few years, I make sure I give my chicks weeds with the roots/dirt attached from my yard (clover, grass, dandilions, etc,) every day and I have never had an issue with...
I have a rooster who is just like the one that is being debated and i can help out a bit with what he is and what he throws. Here he is:
Here are his parents:
Here is a baby from him and a porcelain hen:
I also have a Blue mottled rooster with no gold bleedthrough that was a result of...
I am so jealous of all you hatching babies right now! I am still more than a month away from even separating out my breeders, I will have to live vicariously through you guys.
None of my D'Uccle hens go broody for more than a couple days, which I am thankful for. I don't like having broody hens because I feel so bad taking eggs from them!
