With correct stacking and dry storage you can store hay for a year or longer. Tarp carports are popular, but know your snow load or wind conditions.....Metal carports are popular or even a lean too shed will work as long as you can keep it dry, and stack correctly for air circulation.

I've taken my birds on vacation with me, they travel really well - even the CAG!! If you take your CAG in the car, invest in a small travel cage, keep perches low and no hanging toys. You can partially cover the cage while in travel if you think your CAG will do better. Be aware of the temps...

We used to live in Riverside county! We have family in Victorville. We've had three fires in the last two days, one on the ridge below us. Even though we are prepared to evac at anytime, it still scares me... The sound of aircraft sends you running outside to spot smoke! I'll take...
We fear fire more than anything here. Last year at the Telegraph fire we had crews from all over the world here including hotshots from Australia. We as part of the Sheriff's were allowed in where residents were not to evacuate animals. Fire creates its own environment - very scary at times...

Not to side track, but long ago I was told to feed psyllium every day for a week every month. Every day the sand moves a little, its takes a week to move the sand through the gut and out. Made sense to me anyway. Some folks like to feed it everyday, but once a week wont move the sand out.
Looking a lot better!
On the shots, Are you trying to insert the needle with the syringe attached... you mentioned bent needles? Have you tried thumping three times then the needle? If he's already needle shy you may have to work with him desensitizing him somewhat.

Colic, I just hate colic!!! - scares the be-jeepers out of me.
Sounds like you're on the way to recovery! Watch her closely for the next couple of days to make sure she does not relapse. Check her front legs at the hooves - if they are cold you may be still in colic mode.
Just a note here...
Horses are remarkable in healing, I certainly wouldn't give up on that injury... find another vet and push the penicillin.
Also going to add - an old-time remedy... honey. Another good product for proud flesh is Shriners. Stiching would be impossible at the hock, too much movement to hold...
I'm not condoning this persons irresponsible behavior regarding the dog - I hope he does let you have the dog...
But Molly's owner has obviously been down this road before from what he said to you and I'll bet he's been offered by other
"finders" to take her off his hands.
Just for note...
They should be OK... let them move about - maybe feed light tomorrow morning. Check feet for heat if your worried about founder or have a horse that would more likely to founder. Colic as mentioned, they will also throw themselves on the ground or want to roll a lot... I always look to see if...

Try taking an old sweat shirt and rub it all over the mama - thats the pups to keep and do with as it pleases.... We tell all new parents of our pups to bring an old sweat shirt - towel etc to rub on the mama. It reassures as the pup can smell mama.
Our vet is all for saving you money!
We have labs 8 months up to 7 years old.... we use liquid 1% ivermectin - cost about 20.00 for a bottle of it, they get it on a square of toast with peanut butter. Before that I used horse ivermectin paste - but dosing is harder especially if you have...
Oh please, not a thumb thumb, talk about a nut cracker effect on the horses mouth. Please stay away from any shank to refresh this horse. Any broken mouth piece with a shank is not a snaffle, O-rings, D-rings, etc are snaffles. Please don't try to bridle the horse into a shanked bit...
