Aren't they beautiful? They were not so nice looking when I first got them and the rooster was very sick. But now they are bug free and healthy. I know the roo is an older gentelman, but I think I will be entering them in the winter show that we have here in December.
I have a pair of campines and the rooster has dark gray/black legs and the hen has dark green legs. What is the correct color for this breed?
I was going to show them, but I am thinking I will just sell them instead if the legs are not correct.
I was given a bunch of Rhode Island Red bantam roosters the other day. They are not show quality and most were missing a lot of feathers. So I thought about keeping them until their feathers grew back and try and sell them. Well, I decided the amount of feed I would have in them by the time...
I have had my young white homers for a month now. They are really ready to start flying, but a week ago we finished out loft and moved 20 of them out of the coop they were in and into the loft. Is it too soon to let them out? Will they try and fly back into the coop and not the loft? There...
I am quickly realizing that feeding 80 pigeons is not cheap. I am feeding Pigeon A at nearly $20 a 50 pound bag. Pigeon B is not much cheaper. Can I add cracked corn to it or layer pellets or hen scratch to make it go further?
Thanks!!!
We are entered in the SW Washington fair with chickens of course and Loren's rock and fossil collection. We will be in the poultry building nearly ever day from the 17-22nd of this month!! Maybe we will see some of you there?
I am getting into the "White Dove Release" business. I just bought over 80 white homers, and 5 doves. About 25 are adults, and the rest are young birds. They are being kept locked up for at least 6 weeks before I start training them. I am really excited about this and I hope we do a good job...
I recently purchased a large flock of white homers. (I am getting into the "White dove Release Business) They seem to have a lot of lice/mites. I have over 80 birds in 2 large flights right now. Is there anything I can do to kill these nasty bugs through feed or water, or will I have to...
I have a trio of 2 y/o black East Indies bantam ducks. I will not ship them so they are pick up only. I am in SW Washington state.

I have 1 white pea hen and 2 blues in with a white peacock. They have build up a huge stock pile of eggs and they are not sitting. what gives? They nest is nice and quiet with lots of cover. Am I peaking in too much or what?
I got a 2 y/o California buck rabbit a few months ago and yesterday I picked up a doe Chinchilla. She is a year old. I want to cross breed them and am wondering what colors I might get with this cross. My california is of course white with chocolate points and the Chinchilla is of course...
My egg turner is about 12 years old and finally gave up on me. Can I just replace the motor, or should I just get a new one all together? The motor says "Appliance controls".
Well, Loren did well at the youth fair. Not as well as he likes to do, but good enough. He did not get showmanship champion but we really close. He just didn't speak up enough and was distracted a little by another boy in the group. He did ask the judge why he didn't get champion though...
Loren's showmanship hen died today. I believe she was egg bound. It was too late when I found her and started treating her. She was a light brown dutch. Loren was planning on useing her at the youth fair this weekend. Now he has no bird for Showmanship. The showmanship birds at this show must...
I don't know how long my turned was not plugged in, but it could have been for 2 weeks! Today was the day I am to take out the egg turner and I found that it was already unplugged and a recharging station for a drill was in it's place! I have my incubator in a 'Shop" building and don't do much...
Every time I put eggs in the incubator I always end up with soem eggs that have fully developed chicks, but they don't pip at all. What is the deal?
Thanks!!
