our first set up that killed 7 chickens was an A frame 8 by 4 by 4 feet the2. time it was a 3 foot of the ground 1 foot wide and 10 foot long with seperateing slots so one 2 foot slot one 3 foot slot and one 5 foot slot ,the chickens were in the 3 foot slot bild it step by step in your head.

We pick up the puppy on the 22nd...and he will only be 6 weeks old. I know there are a lot of stray dogs in the neighborhood...so there is no telling what the heck is going on.

Thank you for all of the advice. We will be working on our Fort Knox plans. I just feel bad having them all 'cooped' up...you know. I feel like they need some daylight. So would you put them in that super secure coop at night and let them free range supervised during the day??

We had a flock of 8 chickens. 2 1/2 weeks ago I went out to the coop to feed my chickens in the morning like I always do, only to find all but one of them DEAD lying in the coop !!! Sapphire, the one chicken that was still alive was lying there helpless and looking like she was going to die...
I have read every book in my local library on chickens. Sometimes particular breeds like in pheonixes & red junglel fowl already protect hens, but most of the the time the older the cock the more fearcly they protect thier hens, if not, your rooster has a problem.
