Hey all!
I got this chick as a wee one in a mystery straight run bin - My hunch is that this is a BSL roo, but wanted a few more opinions - hoping it might be a Barred Rock pullet (I know it's unlikely, lol).
6 weeks old.
This 6 day old chick's feathers are growing in really weird. It's some type of barn yard mix chick, but I've never seen feathers come in twiggy like these are. Any thoughts on what's up with it?
Would they have sex linked babies? I thought I read somewhere that the boys would be dark, but maybe I got that backward...
Here's one:
And while I have you here... lol. I have a mystery chick I got from the same dude. It was much bluer when I picked it out 2 days ago and...
While it is not necessary to sign up in advance, it is nice to have an idea of how many will be attending. Plus knowing that you will be coming may be the reason that someone else attends! :)

I have a 5 week old chick that has a gigantic crop - It's not a hard mass, it's very squishy and mobile. I was putting cut up towels in their brooder for bedding and washing them, and now that she has this issue, after reading about causes, I'm wondering if maybe she ingested a loose towel...
I got sucked in to the TSC bantam bin today. I know I have 4 silkies, and another I'm pretty sure is a golden sebright. This last little one I'm not sure about. The face looks sebright-ish, but the spots on the back are throwing me off....
Any guesses?
I went in to get some food and they already had bantams and ducks. Of course I had to get some, lol. The worker there said they were a surprise shipment, that they were not expecting them for another 2 weeks.
:)
These spots on her comb are pretty new - within the last few days. They are not frostbite and I *really* doubt they are from pecking, as this is my top girl.
The only other thing google shows for black spots is Fowl Pox. Is that what this is? And if so, what should I do?
I had my 6 week olds outside in their own makeshift run, but one of them somehow escaped and was attacked by my grown hens. She has a small cut on her beak, but a huge gross gash on her head. The skin is totally seperated and I *think* I can see bone, but I'm not sure. I put neosporen on it...
I have a very dependable broody/mama Java hen that has accepted and raised adpoted babies several times for me. I also have a rather unhealthy duckling obsession and really want to get some, lol. I've heard of people using their broody to raise ducks, but does it only work with eggs? She has...
I've been wanting to get ducks pretty much forever. Every spring I manage to hold out and not get a few babies, though my resolve is quite low this year, lol. However, as much as I want them, I want to be sure it's a good fit.
I have had chickens for 4 years now, but ducks intimidate me a...
I'm getting SO sick of buying eggs. Pretty much all summer I've been averaging 1 (maybe 2 eggs very rarely) a day with 6 hens.
I have 2 bantam cochins, that I don't expect anything from, so I probably shouldn't even count them. Then I also have 2 Javas who are constantly broody. Seriously...
My broody has been sitting on some eggs for about 2 1/2 weeks - the last few days she keeps pushing out one particular egg, the same one each time. Does that mean that one is a dud? I haven't candled, and don't want to this late for fear of disturbing any development.
