Finishing some painting but a rainstorm hit. Lucky to have gotten 2 dry days in a row this year. Making everything a convenient size, weatherproof enough, and shiba dog proof led to a lot more weight than expected. Still 2 of us can shift it around. In 3 days the chickens have already turned...
I'm back after however many years break. I was certain I wouldn't remember my login. We are moving to a house in a city that allows chickens. Have to jump through a few hoops but eventually we can have 6 hens. The previous owners already built a coop and got a permit so there should be no...
After being trapped in a condo for the past nearly 2 years there's a good chance my husband is taking a job near chicago that will pay more than double and that means we can afford a property with land again. I'm looking for 5 acres with horse facilities and found this awesome log cabin, 5...
Looking for any type of egg for hatching and cheap/free roosters or retired hens for butchering as pet food. Must be within 30mins of North Liberty, West Liberty, the quad cities or along the interstates between those places. Gas costs are too high to be worth driving hours just for eggs and...
Looking for any type of eggs. Duck, guinea, chicken, quail... any breed. We can no longer keep adult poultry but chicken was a main part of the raw diet for both our domestic common pets and exotics and we just acquired more bengals which are asian leopard domestic cat crosses. I'm thinking...
Pedigree show quality champagne d'argents. Also good meat and larger pet rabbits. Moderate sized litters but good mothers so the kits are well fed and grow fast. Average 12lbs at adulthood. They start black and turn silver. Somewhat rare breed.
We can't raise our own chickens anymore but they made up a major part of our dogs' raw diets so we are looking for any free or very cheap roosters and retired laying hens for butchering. Age is unimportant except that I have nowhere to grow them out so they must be at least 10weeks. Will...
Sometimes I think linnies have this ability to defy gravity. Kaze spends nearly as much time upside down as right side up and sometimes the positions he gets in to don't look possible. Earlier he was eating by hanging off a calcium perch over his food dish but I couldn't get a picture of it...
It seems so small to me but he spends 6-10hrs 5-6days of the week out of his cage and he doesn't seem to notice the size change. In fact he was completely unphased about moving to a different colored cage with a different rope perch and everything rearranged. My budgies get all bent out of shape...
5 little champagne d'argents
The doe
and the buck
They started wandering around the colony a couple days ago so I decided to round them up and get pics while I was cleaning the stall today. We have some champagne x cremes due in another week. The creme doe tends to have big litters but...
That makes the 3rd one this winter. All extremely friendly house pets dumped outside in the cold. This one looks like it lost the tips of it's ears to frostbite.
We've already got someone who wants her at least.
Their mom suffered mastitis and they had to be pulled. We are feeding them pellets dissolved in goat milk. I built a pen on the floor for them but they kept escaping. Then I realized while a bird cage sounds small my cages are 30"x18" and many people (not me) keep adult small breed rabbits in...
My husband bought me a little turquoise lineolated parakeet. I decided to refer to *it* as male until proven otherwise since they have to be feather/dna sexed. Here are a few pictures and there are several more plus vids on my photobucket page...
I also posted this to rabbittalk forum so if you are seeing it twice it's not just in your head.
Yuki has not been feeding her kits well despite always feeling lumpy. Today they seemed even hungrier than before and so I flipped yuki over to try putting a kit on her. The kit didn't seem to be...
Tsuya, mini rex, just turned 3 weeks old and had her first posing attempt. I am in love. We noticed she had a much fluffier coat than any other kits we have/had and she's a perfect little round ball. I hope she stays that way and doesn't grow up to be an awkward rabbit instead.
More bunny kits
1 single litter of a black mini rex
and 7 mini rex, 3blue, 1 black, 2 broken blue, and 1 broken black
then 9 d'argent x rex I'm raising for meat rabbits
I'm only interested in buying eggs that will give a good portion of those colors/markings. I will not buy a bunch of eggs from several different pairs where only one or two may produce what I want. I did that the first time around and spent most of the next year culling and trying to mix...
I built a 4x8x8'h enclosure for the sugar gliders but it didn't work out so we are using it as an aviary instead. I want to put buttons in the bottom but the floor right now is a canvas tarp over hardwood that is then covered in a chunk of fleece. Great for sugar gliders but not easy cleaning...
I finally got around to a few modifications and the move of the budgies from their cage to the 8x4x8'h former sugar glider enclosure. Since this thing takes up majority of a small room I had to take pics of it in pieces.
Food area:
The round metal food dishes hold seed or pellet mixtures...
