i cant lower the lamp any more than i already did... it is sitting on the edge of the tank... um... as for the top of the tank it is wide open, but it is only a 10 gallon tank and the only top i have is the fish tank glass cover....
so i went out and bought a lower watt bulb.... the next size i could find in red was a 75 watt. now the temp is way too low. it is only at 80 right now. the store wont have the 100 watt till tomorrow... can i use a white or blue light until the red ones come in??? i am suppossed to pick up my...
wow... so i have had the lamp set up for all of an hour and i checked the temp, i need a higher thermometer first off, i didnt realize that mine only went to 86(and this wasnt high enough).... second off, if the glass is this warm, i can only imagine how hot it actually is!!! so tomorrow before...

i will be using a 10 gal tank for my silkie chicks... how high should i place the light above it? and what is the appropriate temp for them??? i think it is 95 degrees... am i right?
i mean they would have outside time too, but would live in the house... is this at all possible? and what do you do if you end up with a rooster(or 2) but cannot have roosters?
