    Removing chicks from incubator?

I did end up removing the ones that hatched and their shells as quickly as possible. All went well! Ended up with 100 percent hatch rate for my chicken eggs... Duck eggs not nearly as good. But I'm happy overall! Thank you!

    Removing chicks from incubator?

Most of them are pretty dried, if any are "fresh" I'll probably leave them to dry out a bit more in the incubator. Thank you!

    Removing chicks from incubator?

Hey all! I have chicks (and a couple ducklings) that have hatched in my incubator. It's getting quite crowded now, but there are still some yet to hatch. Can I remove some chicks and empty shells? Or is it best to wait it out?

    Mixed Flock Coop/Run Size

It'll be for chickens, ducks, geese and turkey. I know the 4+ for the chickens, but wasn't sure how I should adjust it for the other birds! And no matter what I know I'll have to account for chicken math 😂

    Mixed Flock Coop/Run Size

I've tried Google and the search filter and I'm just not finding what I'm looking for. We just moved early April, and are currently poultry free. In the past I had a pretty large flock with chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks. Our new place does not have a coop, but it's the first project I'm doing...

    Goose with lump on belly?

I posted this in emergencies with no response. I recently got a goose to go with our ganders. She seems happy and healthy. The other day I noticed she has a lump on her belly, a few inches from her vent. Anyone ever heard of setting like this? Could it be a hernia? Any idea if it will impact her...

    Goose with lump on belly?

Hope it's ok I'm posting about a goose! We finally got a goose for our gander almost two weeks ago. The other day I noticed more pink on her belly than seemed normal. Upon closer inspection she has a large lump there. She is about a year old and completely healthy otherwise. Any ideas what it...

    Sexing geese?

Ok, last spring I got an assortment that included 10 chickens, 2 turkeys, 2 ducks, and 2 geese. I've been able to sex all of them, except the geese! We have a white chinese and a brown chinese. Physically they look similar, same knob size, neck length, etc. Personality wise there are slight...

    Mean rooster

You need to show your rooster you are dominate. When he attacks you pin him to the ground, grab him by the feet and carry him around. Be consistent. A lot of times it doesn't get better and if not, he needs to be soup.

Rooster of tippy toes on one leg

I do wonder if he may have hopped down and hurt himself. His scales all seem normal. I looked his leg and foot over and it looks completely normal. He is about 8 months old. He did not have a Mareks vaccine. I do think I will put him in a cage for a few days. He doesn't seem to have his...

Rooster of tippy toes on one leg

Hey all, I noticed one of our roosters limping badly this morning. No thing wrong with his feet, and he just tip toes on one foot. What is everyone's suggestions?

    Sick, Lethargic, Thin Chicken

We used ivermectin. She has not been laying eggs, but no one else is either. I had just figured it was due to the darker days! The yellow poo doesn't really look like egg, almost more like a pale yellow, like butter. She is not sitting or waddling, just slower moving. I did also notice her comb...

    Sick, Lethargic, Thin Chicken

Hey everyone! I hope someone can help me out here. I have an almost 3 year old leghorn who has some type of an issue. Sometime last week I noticed her hunched and ruffled outside by the door to her coop. It was a super cold blustery day, and there were one or two other chickens with her so I...

    When to use antibiotics?

We had an incident yesterday that left 6 young chicks dead, and two young turkeys wounded. One of the two turkeys was hurt quite badly by his lower back, tail feather area. I applied blu kote liberally, and they made it through the night alright and seemed ok this morning. With the injuries...

    Meyer Hatchery shipping. Grrrrr

This is so horrible to hear. I'm sorry this happened!! I just happened to get an order of chicks from Meyer today. First time I have ever ordered chicks through the mail, in fact. They arrived less than 24 hours from the time I ordered, I wasn't expected to get them until tomorrow. I hope they...

Day old chick unable to stand?

Got a delivery of chicks this morning and everyone had been doing great but when I went to check one was laid out oddly. It wants to keep its eyes shut, and flops over when it tries to walk. It kind of leans to one side sitting down and seems fairly weak. I think it was fine earlier, made sure...

    Missing feathers, rooster or?

Ok, so I have a lovely little flock of chickens. 8 hens, 1 rooster. They are about a year and 2 months old. A few months ago I noticed a few of our hens had some bare backs, and one had feathers missing on her head. I asked about it on a different forum, and was advised it was due to a...

Should I be concerned? Dead Chicken

I also thought it would be unlikely that it was the roosters fault! They are in a hoop house, and there is no way a dog could have gotten in...at least not without leaving some evidence. I'm hoping it was maybe just the heat or something as it has been terribly hot here lately.
