so bummed.. I've been having bad luck with my chicks this summer

Hey guys... so I've been having terrible luck trying to raise my babies this summer. In June I got an order of 3 chicks from MPC - those were all the chicks that I wanted, and I got a cuckoo marans pullet, a partridge cochin pullet, and a salmon faverolles pullet. Unfortunately, the faverolles...

Do goats need hay as a part of their diet?

Mine get a flake at night along with their pellets that they don't really eat they just like to pick on, but during the day they go out in a pasture and graze all day

Quote: Thanks! She's a really sweet girl she loves to get pet and held. I think she's pretty old because she barely ever lays... it's actually pretty funny how we got her she just showed up in our horse paddock one day. This has happened with random chickens a few times and my family thinks...

Does this little girl look like an Easter egger to you?

    Well THAT went well! (sarcasm)

I have bird dogs, a lab and a German Shorthair. They will never be in the open with my chickens. Why? Because chickens are birds and bird dogs hunt and retrieve birds. Their nose knows the difference between a duck, a pheasant and a chicken, but their eyes see a bird. Can't and won't try train...

I opened the nest box and got a really scary surprise! This snake had just eaten the egg... Now I'm going to be afraid every time I check for eggs!

    No Merek's Vacc?

I don't know about Marek's in the New England area because I'm in Georgia but I make sure all of my birds are vaccinated now.. I had to learn the hard way to get them vaccinated because I had heard that it's unnecessary for a small flock to be vaccinated for Marek's so I didn't and then they all...

Why do some chicks' beaks look trimmed?

I think that they'll grow back a little bit but not fully. It depends how much is taken off. Debeaking is usually done to commercial laying hens to keep them from cannibalism because they are in such small cages with each other.

My Pet Chicken? What do you think??? PICS PLEASE!

I've ordered from them a few times and I like that they can send only 3 chicks and have a very big variety of breeds and sex bantams, but the sexing on my silver spangled hamburg was wrong in my last order and I'm starting to think that the cuckoo marans pullet that I ordered is a boy... and in...
