Hi Casa, Yes, Monk was the one with the beautiful head and beard.....and the other Americana doesn't look a thing like her so with three black sex links and an Americana that looked like the gold sex link, Monk was definitely the odd ball. Keeping my fingers crossed that they have calmed down...

Hi Mad chicken and Red III, thanks for the response. "Monk" is the Americana that is molting and she has always been the odd man out of the flock....so for her to be so aggressive is really interesting...or maybe she's tired of all the harassment she's been getting. Today wasn't as bad so...

Hi Guys, We are still new to this chicken raising stuff, so need some advice about what the heck is going on with our birds right now. We have six hens that are a year old, one of them is starting to molt....we were expecting that but all of a sudden, it's like world war III has broken out...

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts. Only problem with the new boobs is that they will be on an old body! But I'll deal with that. Maggie and Wanda appear to be happy but somewhat scared that they are all alone after being the big chicks in IFA. lol. Loved the rain today but really need to...

Hi Ladies and gents! Been a while since I was on here....long story short, I was diagnosed with cancer and had to get that taken care of...well partially, I'm awaiting reconstruction. Not the way I wanted to get a boob job. But, no more cancer!! Went to IFA today with intentions of ignoring...

Hi Casa de Pollo....Eggs are doing great. We get 3-5 eggs a day and finally got 6 twice. So Pearl won't be going to freezer camp! We have a light in the coop that helps with the morning/evening short hours of sun. And the heat wrap on the water tank in the coop has worked great even with temps...

Hi Aravis, Having had to give a chicken a soak, it is an adventure. I saw that there are a couple of U tube videos and this link http://www.tillysnest.com/2011/07/how-to-give-chicken-bath.html which seems to give step by step procedure. Dawn is the best for soap and you need lots of towels...

Red III, Blondie spent the night on a nest and today we got our usual five eggs....so guess she's ok. Soaking her seemed to have helped I guess. One good thing....now I know how to bath a chicken if I want to enter them in the fair! But I hope never to have one egg bound again! I know...

went to the "wiki-how" website and followed their instructions. We have done the second soak for thirty minutes. She's back in the coop but still limping. She is eating and drinking water so we will continue to keep an eye on her. Tonight is supposed to be cold so we made sure that she was...

HELP! HELP! HELP! One of our chickens is possibly egg bound. She's eating and drinking and passing poop but walks like she has a 2x4 stuck up her. Then she sits and won't move except to try to eat around her. Chickendad has tried the 20 minute soak in a warm (90 degree) bath and she seemed...

Hi Everyone! Haven't been on in a while....man o man, you guys are chatty! Last time I looked, it was in the 900's. Anywho....we found out what our intruder is. The light above the coop went on at 1AM so hubby finally went down to see what was going on. Nothing in the yard but when he looked...

Hi Guys! We got our first double yolk egg this week. Was making an omelet and found the double. I think it was Bertie's egg. She has been laying the largest of all the eggs. Hers are easy to pick out because they have the light tan shell even though she is a BSL. So all the sex-links are...

JF, since you are in Magna, no shooting within the township. Better to get a trap from animal control.

Ok, I mispoke.....the oyster shell is in the scratch he throws out with the treats. If they want it, they can get it there. It isn't mixed in with the food.

Thanks, it's nice to know we have been missed. Yes, lots of stuff happened right around the time DH had his back surgery. He is doing a lot better but is basically house bound until his surgeon gives the ok to drive....not being able to drive himself has been probably the hardest to get used...

Hi everybody....it's been a few months since I was on this group. Let's just say it personally hasn't been the best two months and leave it at that. I know it's been a while since the last messages I read were in the 500's...so I am way behind. But wanted to post some of the eggs we have been...
