How old is this bird? If it's around 12 weeks or older I'd say it's a pullet.

Glad you're holding on to her! Hopefully she'll get friendlier as she gets closer to the point of lay.

At this point the only for sure cockerel is Red. The black and white bird could very well be molting so it's hard to say for sure yet, I would hold on to it for a few more weeks. The black bird doesn't look like it has any pointy hackle or saddle feathers coming in which it should at 15 weeks if...

I agree that the top is most likely a pullet, but I'm leaning roo on the bottom one due to the patchy natural of the pattern on his wings.

    Danish Leghorn... stopped laying

I had this happen to one of my Easter Egger hens and it turned out that she had a partial crop impaction. It finally turned into a complete impaction that resolved itself with the help of crop massage and scrambled eggs soaked in olive oil, but even after she got over that she didn't lay an egg...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

Aww, he's cute. :) I don't remember which thread it was on but someone on byc posted a video of a day old chick crowing! It was pretty crazy. I've never had one crow before 12 weeks.

    Chickens stay out at night.

Whenever I introduce new chicks to the flock I have to physically move them from the run into the coop at dusk for a few days until they learn that the coop is where they are supposed to sleep. They just don't understand where they're supposed to go without some help, probably because they're...

    Layers not laying! Impatient first-timer?

I would give them some more time, it can be very stressful to move from one place to the other and that can cause laying hens to stop lying for a while. If they're not laying after a month then I would worry. As for sleeping in the nesting boxes I would break that behavior by waiting until dusk...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

My first roster didn’t crow until he was almost 4 months old, I think they can take longer if they aren't raised around older rosters. They'll get it eventually though!

My chances of getting coloured eggs ?

If the roo carries the blue egg gene then you could have hens that lay colored eggs. I'm not sure what the percentages are though, good luck!

No eggs and now red tail and wing tip - pics. Thoughts?

She looks ok to me. The redness could be from anything, but it doesn't look like something to worry about. If you look at the first pic you posted the feathers on her tail look like pin feathers which means she is molting. It could be that the move triggered a mini molt in her. I believe she'll...

    Green to Blue egg laying?

The color can vary because of the way it is added to the shell. The blue color is actually in the eggshell and is added first when the shell is formed, the green comes from a layer of brown on the outside of the shell that is added right before laying.

No eggs and now red tail and wing tip - pics. Thoughts?

From the way you describe her it sounds like she's molting. Give her time, she'll start laying again eventually.

These all look like pullets. Tail angle doesn't really matter with EE's.

sillycmoy, here is a pic of my Black Beard as a 14ish week old pullet. She started getting orange on her wings at around 12 weeks and now lays a lovely blue egg. Had me guessing right up until that first squat!
