We do have roosters- not by choice at first- they were "ooopses" that we thought were girls! We have too many at the moment and will have to find homes for a couple soon! But we love them - we just had to put our favorite roo down and we are so sad bc he was the favorite and we loved hearing...

Hello KPenley -- and...welcome!
I am a pretty new newbie too. we homeschool and finally live some place where we could do chickens so we built incubators and started at the beginning. I did lots of research on chickens and was overwhelmed -- so I decided to have a mix flock and chose...
I wanted to say hello and say I think I am pretty close to you! I have a Greenvill addy but am close to Taylors as well. I live off of State Park Rd. I just started with chickens - some Silkies we hatched from Nikki and some others from Amy plus some guineas from Amys eggs too.
Hope to meet...
Hello SC friends --
Wondering if anyone near Greenville happens to have a Buff Orpington chick or pullet for sale? My "little" boy is turning 13 in 10 days and he requested a Buff for his bday :) He requested a rooster but until I know for sure that I have all "girls" out in the coop already...
Here they are -- our first 2 guineas (one blue and one pearl) finally made an appearance about 4pm today -- a full 24 hours after the pipping began. We have two more getting closer to coming out and another that has pipped and is moving all over the place. We have 3 Lavendar eggs that looked...
Still pipping here in Greenville, SC :) 4 Pips now! 1 of them has some of the shell off and the membrane of the shell has been broken -- fun watching it move around and we can see the beak :)
The kids are doing testing today so in between sections they stretch their legs and come check on...
The Jann family is very excited b/c our guinea eggs have started to pip today (Day 26).
We have 8 that looked great when we candled before lockdown. So far 2 blue's and 1 Pearl have pipped -- they started this afternoon. Hoping to have some cute keets when wake up! What a fun way to finish...
We are trying to transform an existing structure into our coop with the least amount of expense possible. it's about 14 feet x 11 feet. As you can see from the photo I attached, there are some pretty large spaces between the walls --- we are boarding the sides about 1/2 way up. want to leave...
I was given a new Silkie yesterday from a sweet friend here on this forum who gave us Silkie eggs to hatch. Of the ones that hatched one of ours didn't make it and the kids had gotten attached so she kindly invited us to her home to see her Silkies and then gave the children a sweet little...
So.....we are in between our 4 day old Silkies (that we just love) and waiting on a 2nd batch of other eggs to hatch. Mommy took the kids to the local feed and seed store today to buy a few supplies and we came home with 3 new Black Sex Linked girls :) Which is fine b/c I want egg layers --...
We have Silkie eggs in the bator right now that honestly are on day 22 -- but we hear them peeping so I guess they are just a bit slow to come out.
But...I have a 2nd batch of mixed eggs (RIR, EE, Comet, Cuckoo Maran, Leghorn, Partridge Plymouth Rock, and even a Guinea Fowl) -- They should go...
No pipping at all and it's Day 21 of our Silkie Eggs. Hoping for a miracle later today and that at least some of them will hatch. I have more we will be putting on lockdown on Friday but they are bigger chickens. The kids really wanted some Silkies so I did this for them -- they will be so...
