Hi! I'm in Montgomery County, Ohio...near New Lebanon/Trotwood area. We're about ten minutes West (I think) of the city of Dayton.
We're just getting into the chickens. Our lease says we can have horses and other domestic animals (livestock). I cannot find ANYTHING about chickens, etc...
Wow! This is amazing! Thank you for posting!! I was just searching to find out how to process my own chickens if I happen to get any roosters this go-round (and I'm sure I will). I was a bit leery of doing it myself, but I can do this. I'll be using this post when I do. :-)
Thank you, egghead! I do have the red-colored heating lamp right now. I may replace tomorrow with a lower watt bulb. Are they a full week old now? I just got them two days ago! I was going to raise it on Monday, since that'll be a week? I thought they were about a day old when I got them...

I have a 250W bulb...

Firstly...do I leave the brooder lamp on 24/7? I'm a bit leery of having it on overnight while I'm...
Just outside Dayton, Ohio here - I'm paying between $4 - $6/bale...about $40 and up for a round bale. My neighbor, who just moved here from northern Ohio, goes back up there to get hay for about $3/bale. He's going to get some for me next time! I really hope they can cut early this year, and...
Hello all,
My name is Christy, and I found this site while looking up information on chicks/chickens this morning. I've been researching quite a bit, have my brooder all set up, and we are getting our chicks TODAY! yay!
