I have leftover bones from a whole smoked white fish. I want to give it to the chickens. We don't think they would choke, but we'd hate to be wrong.
Please do not answer unless you're sure.
Thanks!
I have heard that after they have been shipped, you should let fertilized eggs sit at room temp before incubating. Is this true?? If it is, for how long should you let them sit?
We are getting fertilized eggs to hatch this year. We have always ordered chicks, and this time we want to put the eggs under the 2/3 broody hens we have. Only problem is, some of our chickens break the eggs. Will eggs survive outside?????
Also, if/when they hatch, will the other chickens...
I was thinking, since there were last letter food games and last letter animal games, that I should start a last letter chicken breed game.
The first person to post thinks of a type of chicken, for instance, Easter Egger. The next person thinks of a breed of chicken starting with R...
I think our GLW is molting, but usually they molt in the summer, right?
She was broody since about June-July, and is still sitting on eggs, but is very weird looking. We were thinking that maybe her sense of time is off because of being broody. We are not sure if she is molting because she has...
We have been getting these eggs literally the size and shape of a golf ball. They are creamy-brown, almost tan. We were pretty sure they were coming from one of our mystery birds who we think is a golden laced wyandotte, but now she is broody, and we are still getting them!! They are beautiful...
We have a hen that we are pretty sure is broody. She is constantly on her nest, she only gets up to eat. She has no belly feathers, and it looks like she plucked them. Is this a bad sign???
Is she broody?? will she lay eggs while she is broody?? She has been sitting on the other's eggs, too. I...
Hey, all you Georgia people,
I'm doing a school project on Georgia, and I was wondering if people could tell me some things about it:
1. major physical features (lakes, mountains, etc.)
2. major jobs and industries
3. exports of Georgia
4. general climate...
we have never raised ornamental chickens before. we have some questions about silkies, which we were thinking of getting next spring.
1. Are they cold hardy?? will they make it through shipping and winters? Will they be OK with hot summers??
2. Are they regular layers? we don't need them to be...
Today I came into the henhouse to check for eggs, and what did I see but 16 eggs!
We have 20 chickens, 4 occasional layers, and 16 full time layers!! all the full timers layed today!!! Before our record was 13 eggs, so I am SO happy!!!
Our two buff orpingtons are completely uncontrolable!!!!!!
The first one, named Sunshine, can fly out of the run. We have a dog who needs to share the yard, so it's important they stay in the run. We finally clipped her wings last night. This afternoon, she was out again. What should we do...
I'm sorry, this has nothing to do with anything, but how do you make an avatar???? I've tried and tried to figure it out, but i just CAN'T!!
anyone who knows how PLEASE respond!!!! I'm desperate!!!!!!!
I was checking for eggs today, and I saw a squirrel in the chickenhouse. We know that there's a family of squirrels living next to it, because they eat our chicken's grain :o. When I looked for the eggs, I found that one had a hole in it. Do you think it's coincidence that the egg had a hole...
We have been wondering what will lay out of the ordinary colored eggs. We are looking for suggestions on gentle, non aggressive, non noisy, child appropriate, good layers who lay eggs that aren't just your average white and brown grocery store dozen. We already have some Americaunas, some Barred...
We have an Aracuana hen who has basically stopped laying. She's only about a year and a half old, and she's laying VERY occasional eggs, all duds and extremely tiny.
Will she keep doing that for awhile or eventually stop? At this point, I can't even tell if she has already stopped. Her eggs are...
We have been looking for chickens that lay out-of-the-ordinary-colored eggs. We already have a bunch of Americanas, and we're getting some Copper Marans in a few weeks. We just found out about Dorkings, too. Since we keep our chickens mostly for egg production, but they are also sort of our...
