Just thought I'd update with this:
If you take all of them, they will come with:
1 almost full 50lb bag of 16% feed
1 almost full 50lb bag of medicated chick feed
1 lamp with bulb for chicks
1 cage for chicks
1 sleeping cage for chickens. (if you'd like it)
Pictures are available.
I'm looking for a Phoenix Rooster or a pair of Welsummers, that would be good to show. I live in Southern Indiana.
My daughter's week old Phoenix chick died due to no apparent cause. She picked that bird to show in 4-H next summer. We waited 4 months for our order to come from the...
They were quarantined for 3 days, everything was normal then. They also roost seperately.
I forgot to add that both were vaccinated for Mareks and I think Newcastle.
I know this is a less than savory topic...
We introduced 3 buff orps to our flock last week. The chickens before had well...solid/semi-solid droppings. Now in the pen it looks like one or more chickens has diarrhea. It's diarrhea-colored and the consistancy of broccoli cheese soup. I'd hate...
I let the kids put the chickens up last night. (We keep the coop closer to the house than the run.)
Needless to say 2 of my best eggers ended up in general population, and the roosters were up on them like flies on...well, you know. It was about 30 seconds before I got to both hens.
Should...
I don't have mixed breeds, I was just curious. I've seen on posts that the color of the chick is from the rooster....now I see that the sex is from the hen....it was more of a curious question. Just wondering if there were any tried and true characteristics that always shined through. = )

When I was growing up, we had two buckeyes. One rooster, one hen. The hen laid eggs. Then all the sudden it tried to be the "top" to the rooster. Then it grew a huge bright red comb. Then it started crowing. It wasn't until I got chickens again that I came across this site...
I'm a newbie with chickens, but we should start having eggs within a few weeks (They are a week from 5 months old) . I know a lot of people have incubators....so should I take the eggs and put them in an incubator, or should I leave them with the hen? Or have an incubator on standby?

Not picky about breed, would like 3 hens, 8 months or younger if possible. Looking to pick up, so someone close to Bloomington, Bloomfield, or Terre Haute.
Thanks!
