Meet Nine, a White Chinese gander who is 3 weeks shy of his 1 year birthday.
It is with a heavy heart that I'm posting on here. Nine lost his mate, and this best goose friend today. They had been raised together since they were a week old, and were the only members of our backyard flock, well...
When I went to let my geese out, April, my female chinese goose that will be a year old next month, waddled out slowly. I knew something was wrong because both of my geese are usually honking away at the door when they see me approaching in the mornings. She had her legs spread and plopped down...
We have a pest roaming about, but we dont know what it is or what its food source is in order to eliminate it.
Here are the facts:
We live in Southwest Florida.
Every morning we find areas where it digs the night before - we're convinced it comes only night, and past 10pm and before sunrise...

Just wanted to make sure you were aware that the sticky on Where am I? Where are you? forum titled "Make your mark on the BYC map.." apparently no longer exists.
I'm not sure if eagles are considered "fowl", let alone ornamental ones, but I'm not sure where this should go. If anyone has a better idea of where this topic would fit, I have no problem if you red-flag this and ask a moderator to move this thread
I just saw this on the news & thought I...

Really?? Draco? I dont know if they've named storms in the past (other than Hurricanes), but this is new to me. I find it kind of silly. I also find it humorous that there's a big discussion about this on the weather channel's page. But I'm curious, what do you think about it?
Being new to geese this year, I have been taken aback by how intelligent geese are. OH, they're still silly, but they're smart!!
My geese understand the words for "water", "come", "here", "No!!" (of course), and the name we call them - I dont think they understand their individual names, but...
I just noticed that an Embedded Photos section has appeared on my profile, below my photo albums. I see that it shows all the pictures I've uploaded on threads. While I think this is a good feature, is there any way to remove some of them from appearing on my profile? I dont see a delete option.
Just wanted to share a little vid I took of April & Nine today at their pools. Nine (gander) is a little bratty-pants and likes to claim both pools; he'll leave the one he's in to get into the pool April is in just to kick her out. He and April do this little routine of going from pool to pool...
I was in Target the other day and saw THIS! A Christmas tree and a wreath made out of feathers. It actually looked really pretty.
I wonder what it would look like with Sebbie feathers... anyway, here's a picture i took with my phone
Actually, this would make a neat thread topic... It would be...
First off, are all sunflower seeds "Black oil sunflower seeds" ?
And can I have some clarification as to whether or not geese can eat them whole (with shells/ hulls on)? With the shells on, they look rather large, and I wonder if they might choke on them .
Its just that, well, I've seen...
I tried looking for this in older threads, but they mainly have to do with eggs that are going into incubators. Well, what about the ones going in my tummy? 3 questions:
We've been washing the eggs our goose has laid with soap and water - is there a better way to clean them?
Some people...
