I just noticed that one of the chicks is breaking underneath the egg---what do I do? I could squeeze something into the bator to turn it over--is that okay?

I do NOT want to help, but how long could they stay like this? This little chick has not made any progress since at least 3am this morning (so almost 12 hours). Is there anything I should watch for to know if it's having trouble?
