Lovebird Adventures With Sid and Nancy

Well they made a fantastic nest and about 5 non-viable eggs, then nothing more. I am thinking that Nanc may be past breeding age! No matter!

    Faverolles Thread

Hey there guys, our little flock is well, and nearly all hens are laying. My extremely sweet faverolle has taken to pecking me very hard when I retrieve the eggs, and chastising us pretty loudly. The bites do not hurt but it seems like bad behavior! Anything I should do? Should I leave an egg...

    Unknown gender AND breed...Help!

IDK now, after researching the black sex-link hens as RoosterCrow suggested....some of those have big huge combs and metallic feathers. Sigh. This is one confusing bird.

    Unknown gender AND breed...Help!

Thank you. The bird in question is the same bird in both pictures. Just one! Now, does anyone want a free rooster? he's absolutely gotta be gone very soon. :( Or, is it considered ok to go back to the original breeder and request a swap?

    Unknown gender AND breed...Help!

Thank you for the reply. I can try to get a better shot, but this chicken must have not had much of a tail to begin with, maybe got pulled out after the first feathering (one of my faverolles was like that). Right now she/he has a few blueish metallic feathers, which are really throwing me for a...

    Unknown gender AND breed...Help!

Hey all! I purchased this chicken as an EE pullet several weeks ago. Well, I don't think it's an EE anymore, and I don't even know what breed or mix it could be. I hope it's not a rooster because then that's two surprise roosters I gotta find homes for! This was sold to me by an individual...

Lovebird Adventures With Sid and Nancy

Some very exciting stuff is happening around here! Several months ago, I bought a proven lovebird pair. I had a baby lovebird in college and she and I were best friends. She passed unexpectedly, and I'd been considering more lovebirds every since. I was so happy to come across this pair. My...

What bird is right for me?

I would consider lovebirds to be for intermediate level bird keepers. They can have some behavioral problems sometimes that are best worked on by someone experienced. It of course, depends on the bird. It is a myth that lovebirds need to be kept in pairs, they can easily be kept singly like any...

    Love bird question?

It's certainly a lovebird, it's just a crossbreed or hybrid. It's considered unethical to crossbreed lovebird species, so she shouldn't perpetuate it.
