Wow. Is there any way to keep them away we have lost chicks to hawks and now watch very closely when are chickens are ranging but I fear we will lose one eventually as the hawks come around all the time. We have a protected run but the chickens stand by the door every day waiting to come out...

If a rooster is bullying the hens a bit at 2 months will he get meaner or will he mellow out. He will peck at me sometimes but not hard and I can pick him up and hold him without a problem. Once I am holding him he is fine and doesn't try to peck.

OK, Thanks. That's what I was afraid of. Now how do I find him a good home. . . My boys want to be able to text him :) and go see him sometimes. That may be optimistic but we would like to find a good home for him with someone who wants EE chicks and a handsome rooster.

My boys named this chick Brickwall and now it is living up to the name. We can't have a rooster but I don't want to make a mistake and give away their favorite chick if there is any chance it's a hen. Pretty sure it's a rooster based on reading here but would love opinions from the experts
