I don't know where you live but there is a great feed store in the University District in Seattle that sells some beautiful pullets on Friday and Saturday each week. It might be worth getting one older chicken to make up your flock. So sorry to hear about your double loss!

How much roofing do you need for your coop? There may be enough of us on here with leftover comp shingles to help put. God knows I have enough of the roofing paper for about 5 more coops and that even includes the fact that I h=used it under my siding!

I noticed that my Orpington has a red rashy looking spot on the backs of both feet. Any ideas whether this is something I should be worried about. Still perching and walking fine.

You can also duct tape pipe insulation to the posts. One on each side does minimize the gap.

What about slug & snail baite ? Any poisonous plants ? I hope she is OK~~~ [/quote My chicken book recommends a molasses water flush for any toxins. Don't know if that would help at this point or not. Good luck!

It should be reported to animal control. Also, if your kids were ever hurt by your neighbors dog you need to file a police report and then you can get coverage for any medical bills from the dog's owners as they should have coverage under their homeowner's insurance policy. If you do not file...
