Thank you!! I've asked around for to see if anyone has any female ducks and I haven't had any luck so I have some eggs in the incubator. Will be interesting to see Rouen/Pekin cross. I've also seperated the female for now. The boys seem content just to be able to see her so far.

    New Hampshire!

Hi All - I am in need of 1-2 adult female ducks to get us through until spring when we can hatch our own. One of my females died last week and I have one female and two drakes left. Two drakes and one hen isn't good. If anyone knows of someone who has some female ducks they are willing to part...

Candling eggs - When is Day 1?

Thank you! I do not have an automatic turner so I am turning manually 3 times a day. Today I was turning one and my son ran into me. The egg slipped out of my hand and onto the floor. Very annoying, but it was an accident. Turns out the egg wasn't fertile anyway. Thank you for letting me know...

Our roo, is so adorable. He is very docile and my 6 yr old carries him around everywhere. Unfortunately, he's so docile, 2 of my Tom's attacked him recently and although he is recovering I think his vision is damaged. He seems to be healing ok otherwise.

My two ladies are the sweetest ever. They lay good sized brown eggs and follow me everywhere. The nibble at my pants to be picked up and for treats! Love my girls!

Lays good size brown eggs, she's a consistent layer, and is very docile, but she holds her own in the pecking order.

The week before we were expecting it to be 15 to 20 below zero, I decided to purchase this from Agway. I was having to go out several times a day in 15-32 (above 0) degree weather to chop ice so the chickens could get some water, and I felt they weren't drinking enough. My suspicions were...

Candling eggs - When is Day 1?

Hi there! I've started incubating some of our eggs for the first time, and I've read a lot about Candling Eggs both on this site and others. What I'm confused about is when do we count Day 1? Is day 1 the day you put the eggs on the incubator? If so, today would be day 3 for me and I don't see...
