    4 Brown Chinese Goose Eggs

Up for bid are four Brown Chinese eggs. Fertility has been checked and running at 100% so far. Out of the twelve eggs I have artificially incubated this year, all hatched and goslings were healthy. Parent's were hand raised and have very nice temperaments. Eggs are collected daily and...

Is it usual for two ducks to share a clutch of eggs?

I've had two ducks share a nest then, after the ducklings hatched, basically divided them up into seperate clutches to raise. The ducklings looked so much alike I couldn't tell if they all stayed with their chosen mommy or if they intermingled between the two.

My friends coop is horrendous.....predators got in.....

BantyRooster[i : Unregistered [/i]and untaxed means it's up for grabs?? Yes, in this state it does, especially when you have multiple persons/households caring for the animal because the claiming owners lack of treatment and failure to follow registration laws. Like I stated before, due to...

My friends coop is horrendous.....predators got in.....

Quote: I'm fully aware it's not the correct thing to do as far as neighbor or friend relations go but I worked in animal shelters for years and know what the laws are in my state. In the instances I'm referring to where I "stole" an animal, by law, since the "owner" did not have the proper...

My friends coop is horrendous.....predators got in.....

I know telling a lie isn't the right thing to do but for the sake of the bird I would probably tell her it didn't survive long after the attack and either keep or rehome it. It wouldn't be the first time I've "stole" an animal from it's owners due to lack of care. As far as I'm concerned, if...

Angel wing with my heart duck.

One of my brown chinese has angel wing to and she gets along just fine. Guessing from the pictures and the size of her knob, yours looks like a female. Another thing that may help identify the sex is how much she talks. My ganders are much louder than the girls and chatter nonstop when I'm...

Parenting teens is HARD - rant! Update on pg.4

Quote: I'm with you on this one hikerchick. My husband and I attended a neighborhood cookout recently and were really amazed just how far most of the other parents had their heads stuck in the sand when it came to their own kids. What their kids have told them goes on with friends, outside...

    Sebastopol geese

Quote: Well, this is my first year with Sebbies, I have seven total. The three oldest (11 wks. old) are all males and they are pretty darn loud when they want to be. I also have brown chinese geese and although the Sebbies don't honk, talk, etc., nearly as often as the chinese, they are...

    zicam---loss of smell

I think Zicam is just the newest target of some class action lawsuit firm. We've used the stuff for years without any problems. No complaints from people we've recommended it to either.

    Wild baby duck!!!!!! ALL ALONE!!!

Quote: There are different things you can use for bedding but DO NOT use anything that is smooth and/or slick. Young ducklings can slip on smooth surfaces, injuring their legs very badly. You can use wood shavings, (No cedar chips though, the oils in cedar cause respiratory illness) straw...

Day 19 and our quail eggs our quail eggs are very smelly!

If the eggs are smelly and weeping, then yes, the embryos are gone. You should get them out of the incubator ASAP, before they explode. You may never be able to get the incubator fully clean if that happens.

    Wild baby duck!!!!!! ALL ALONE!!!

Quote: Why can't an orphaned duck be allowed to swim until seven months? I have raised waterfowl for eight years now and there is no reason at all they can't swim as much as they want once their adult feathers are in and they no longer get water-logged.

    geese in the garden

Put deer netting around your garden area. You can get a 100' x 7' roll for under $15. My geese ran into it a few times before they figured out something was there but it's worked great so far. Another advantage...........it keeps the deer out to.

I'm devastated and want to know what predator buries extra chickens?

I'd say a fox. They hunt during the day as well as at night, especially when they are trying to feed their kits. They also bury their prey and will go on a killing sprees, taking an entire flock down. Sorry for your losses. Protect your remaining birds well. Whatever did it will come back.

She is killing me! PICS! Look now!

Since you have no idea how long the egg has been there, smell it to see if it's rotten or not. If it stinks, you'll know it's time to pitch it out. If not, there may be a chick inside.

Poll!! Am I being unfairly mean??

Just another thought............... If your DIL has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and is not complying with her treatment by taking meds, doctors visits, etc., that's a REALLY GOOD reason for a judge to grant your son custody.

Poll!! Am I being unfairly mean??

NO, you are not being mean. Your DIL sounds like a childish, self-absorbed, brat. If it were me in your shoes, her behind would have been put out of my house a long time ago. If my son didn't like it, then he could follow. Paying $400 a month for maid, laundry, and chef service is a bargain...

Pics of my puppy from today post #67

If nobody at the shelter is trained to do this, see if you can find a local vet or reputable dog trainer to do temperment/behavior testing on him. If the dog doesn't snap during the over stimulus he'll be exposed to in this testing, he probably never will.
