    shingles on ramp for traction?

Possibly over kill on my part. On my ramp I used wood slats about every foot and in between I stapled fast the foamy stuff you use to line kitchen drawers. They really get a good grip on it and its rubber so stands the weather very well.

This Sav-A-Chick Electrolyte and Probiotic has allways worked well for me. I get them both at tractor supply. I have used them for all my ducks as I got them from a few days old. I use a gallon water jug dump one packet of each in and use that to mix it. Then dump from there into their water...

Good morning everyone, Here in south central PA kinda muggy and to warm for my liking. I came home the other evening to put my ducks in and found I had 1 hatched almost completely and 3 more with holes in the eggs and movement inside. Waited until the following afternoon and found I had 3 new...

First timer building a duck house

Congratulations on building your first duck house. I live in south central PA and while not as cold as the Midwest it does get into the negative 0 on occasion. My duck house has a plywood floor and I used marine paint to seal it and painted a few inches up the wall. I use smart board from...

One of my two full grown drakes was killed right outside the coop. My female and other drake are ok. The duck was on its back with feathers all around it and the front was eaten clean down to the bone. From about the breast down. Also found possibly the live beside the carcass. I am thinking...

    Killer Raccoons

My best predator deterrent so far is my two labs. They are inside most of the time but I make sure they poop and pee in the yard around the ducks. Seems to work in keeping the predators away and I am right next to some woods. Barring that, Guineas I understand also can make good guard dogs as...

Rouen Ducklings tail shaking and mouth open.

Had ducklings before and don't recall this behavior. Occurs when they are sitting down resting. They act normally when they are up and about. Got them from Metzer Farms on July 9th mail order. They seem to be eating and growing fine. Just wondering what this behavior is. Are they to hot, to...

    Rouen Males not getting along

Yeah tried CL looking on the forum here and google searching. Have placed an add on CL. Only thing I can find are the hatcheries selling babies which isn't going to work. Called a local rescue looking to rehome some 1/2 rouen 1/2 khaki but they have 2 or 3 females and one male. I told them I...

    Duckbunker Winterization Ideas?

Rouen Drakes with some "grayish or silverish" feathers?

I just had my two rouens get their rings on their necks so I am sure they are males. Both have some of their body feathers that are a gray in color or between a gray and silver. What's the reason behind it and should I be concerned? I have 4 females and 2 males. 3 of the females are about a year...

    Nube introduction

Hello Denny, I am Gary and somewhat new myself only had my rouens since September and they were inside last winter. From what I have read books and such and my plan for this coming winter is to just keep them inside their "duck bunker" at night or during bad weather. They say ducks have the...

Starting new young ducks with established year old ones?

I currently have 3 Rouen females that are just under a year old. In two days I am getting 3 more Rouens that are 6 weeks old, 2 females and a male I believe. Here the days are in the low 80's and the nights have been dipping into the 60's. They are inside their "Bunker" at night and left out in...
