When/how do they learn to go to a nesting box to lay, this one looks like it took the hen by surprise.

egg: Flesh color, legs are yellow, combs are getting to be quite large and floppy, esp on the photo at the bottom, this one just had to move her head as I was taking her picture

I don't know if these are any better, if not I will try again in the morning, how do you take a good picture when they wont stand still?

My husband got them from a commercial chicken farm, they were too small to be sent to slaughter. Oh and one of them layed its first egg tonight. We don't know which one and it wasn't in a nesting box but outside the door to the barn/coop.

Hubby at least has raised chickens. I'm completely new to it. I've posted a pic of our three on the what breed/gender forum.

We thought they were all girls, but now beginning to wonder. One of them is much bigger than the others and seems to behave differently. We're not sure how old they are, they haven't layed any eggs yet.
