Eggs/chicks tougher then one thinks - broody had an off day

How did it go for the rest? I just found our chicken had abandoned the duck eggs she had been sitting on and the eggs were cold. :( They are due to hatch tomorrowish, and in candling them most looked like they should. So we have them warmed up now with a light - not the best, but we're...

Duck eggs causing me stomach pain?

I know this is an older post, but just in case you see this, what happened? I am having the SAME problem! I have 8 Khaki Campbells who are finally laying and both my husband and I are getting progressively worse stomach aches after eating them. So bad that we're afraid to eat them. We've...

Duck Egg Intolerance - Would fertilized affect?

That's a good point. The yard is about 7,000 sq ft, so there are lots of things growing there. Hmmmm, I may have to do some research!

Do your ducks use the nest boxes?

Mine are locked up until about 6:50 and sunrise is still before that, so I've only found 1 egg not in the coop. But, out of 5-7 eggs a day, usually only 1 is in a nest box, the rest are scattered around the corner they sleep in (and therefore dirty). But mine have only been laying for a few...

    Ducks with Chickens?????

I have 12 chickens and 12 ducks. They share a coop that is really a stall - about 10 x 10. The ducks sleep in the corner on the floor together. Like another poster, I have no water or food (they must have water with their food) in the coop. With bedding in there, it's not so bad. Their yard...

It's probably worth a try! They are awesome layers and I like having them around.

Duck Egg Intolerance - Would fertilized affect?

Yes. But the chickens have the same food and we can eat their eggs and feel fine. So wouldn't that eliminate that as a factor? I am willing to try it if it could be that!

Duck Egg Intolerance - Would fertilized affect?

Thank you. I really doubt it too. I think it's odd that both husband & I would be intolerant, so I'm trying to think of anything else it could be!

Duck Egg Intolerance - Would fertilized affect?

So we've raised up ducks and they started laying about a month ago. Both my husband and I were getting progressively worse stomach aches - sour and crampy after breakfast and through trials of eating the duck eggs only, our chicken eggs only, and store-bought chicken eggs only on different...
