My friend has my chickens currently at her house and brought me eggs this morning. SOme chicken some duck. I scrambled some up with some milk this morning and this is what happened... what is the deal? Is this safe to eat??? I left them on the counter to post this and my 2yos ate them!!!
Im not sure of their age, but yes they should be laying I think. :) Im about to go check again if there are any eggs. I could hear a couple of the girls squawking earlier :)
Hi all :) sorry for all the questions. You guys are awesome with your chicken knowledge :)
I have 2 questions:
1. Is there ever a reason you would not eat a chickens egg (parasites, worming, fleas/mites, something wrong with that egg, etc)
and
2. How do I encourage more egg production...
What's the best way to keep them close to home? My chickens at our old house would stay in the yard and roost on the fence but knew where to stay. Our new house is much larger property and I so far have only let them free range when I'm watching and before I feed them so they see me bring food...
He for sure comes at me with no warning. I had just opened the doors to the coop and already he was charging at me...
Later today I was in the coop to put straw all over the mud. He acted afraid of me and stayed at the opposite side of the run while I was in there and did not come at me. He...
What do you mean? I clean their coop and like today im going to get some hay for them. Its super muddy in their run because of where we live, but it dries quickly when its not raining. They also free range in the grass on my 1 acre property. The run has no grass left because they ate it and...
Thank you for the responses! I will try to get pictures of them up in a few hours.
They are all full grown chickens already laying and seem to be nice in nature. I picked them all up, they aren't afraid of me at all. I was worried about parasites as ive never had problems with mine and I can...
Hello everyone!
A couple weeks back I posted about how I have 2 roosters in my small flock of 4 chickens. So I found some local chickens for sale and bought 12 of them. They are "supposedly" all hens. The guy had 35 chickens and I assumed he knew what he was talking about... So I get them home...
Thisis them.... we got them together March 1 2014... which would make them about 9 months now I guess?
Should I separate into two flocks? Can they live together in the same run with different coops?
Chicken people: I was outside walking around yesterday and noticed that two of my chickens are roo-ing... I knew we had a rooster but is it possible a hen is roo-ing? I feel like if it really was 2 roosters they would be fighting? Theres only 4 chickens in my flock.
What should I do?
My rooster is acting "slow"...
Hes kind of dragging his wings slightly and not actin active as normal. I dont know what it could be... he did this a few months ago too but I fed him a lot and watched him and he got better after some water and food... I try to make sure the chickens have...
