Can anyone post a close-up pic of their feet? I started my flock over after moving and ordered a few new breeds and have them all growing in the same pen but I'm tring to figure out who is what. I think I have a pair of splashes but I'm wondering if the feet have a light greenish tint to them...

    Home made incubator

I start with the thermostat setting at 125, it has nothing to do with the temp inside. It's just a starting point to get it dialed in. Ditch the 3 way bulbs and get the ones I use, it's proven. Mount the T-stat like I did in the pic and go from there. You can't control the temps with holes, the...

One more thing. Don't try to adjust the T-stat. Set it to about 125 and just mount it like I have mine and let the temps settle to wherever it settles then adjust the temps.

Confederate Money Farm has some good info and I used his site when I built my 1st one. I still think you need 2 lights to maintain an even temp and cover all the holes except 1 at the bottom and 1 at the top. That picture was when I was setting my hatcher up and now the T-stat is closer, it was...

I might try 1 of those temp controllers, I use a water heater thermostat and it maintains temp good for the price and usually once it's set, it's good. I also did PI in the late 90's.

I'm posting this to try to clear up some information. I use 2 lights in mine and it works in either a cooler bator of an old fridge/freezer. I have 1 light that is on constantly and 1 connected to the T-stat. The 1 that stays on is a curly Q energy saving florescent bulb, it's a 13 watt. That...

I have a fan also but I couldn't get good temps, I hope it works for you. I just moved back home from Gulfport, retired from the Seabees and did 4 years at Lejeune. OH the good ole days!

I tried to use some red bulbs for a hatcher and found that the radiant heat was too much so I went back to white. I don't know if was the type of bulb or what. Did you notice the temp difference from 1 side to the next?
