The cochins I know, just inquiring on the 3 small dark chickens. Tonight, the one in the first picture on the right made a strange almost crow-like noise.
Does anyone know how old they look/may be? Anything good about this breed from your experience?
Whatever age these guys are they all look the same unlike other breeds I have that crowed in the past, I could easily tell. These do not have combs just a red pigmentation to the skin. If they didn't all look the same it wouldn't be so hard.
Thank you! I see that in them ( took me a aminute to figure out what OEG was) haha. Show quality or not they are loved where they're at now. Mutts are sometimes the best.
It must be hard to differentiate the males from females in this breed since one is crowing and they all are exactly the...
I picked up theses guys in a swap and have absolutely no clue what breed or what age they are. Any suggestions? One is already crowing ( i know age is hard to tell) I can tell you I have Seabrights that I raise and these new guys are much smaller. I am just inquiring on the 3 dark chickens.
So the little guy with the deformed looking snout is doing wonderful! He's the largest of the bunch and thriving doesn't seem to have any health issues from the snout deformity! :)
Thank you all! Wonderful advice for first time turkey owners. They are all doing well, eating and drinking great, and I finally found the Purina Startena today after searching and searching. I have one problem with one, it has had a "funny" looking beak;snout. Here are some photos of it. It is...
Love this! thank you! I recently obtained what I believe to be 4 turkey poults (about 3 weeks old at this point).
They are with a few, healthy chicks. Neither have touched outside yet. I am trying to figure out what feed to get that will be good for them. Will water supplements be adequate? In...
I am curious and would like to know some of the reasons why people say turkeys are hard to raise and keep alive as poults. I have heard from just about everyone that they almost always die, for no apparent reason. Why? I have searched and searched and found no real answers, except for obvious...
Interesting! Thanks for the input, keep it coming! I will look into the leghorns and other breeds to. I am wanting a variety of eggs, more of a variety than I have right now.,
Hello and welcome! From my experience, I have always had chickens, ducks, and guinea fowl together. Tho only problem I run into is water water water! Everywhere! Ducks need their water but they sure do make a mess of it. So far I haven't had any confrontations between all of them. As long as...
What are some of your favorite breeds and why? I have now gathered what hatcheries to buy from now I want to see what the popular breeds are and why they are your favorites. Currently I have RIR, Easter Eggers, seabrights (my favorite) and 2 other "mutts".
That's awesome to hear they are both doing well! I am worried there will be a repeat crop impaction on the same chicken. I'll probably get some olive oil to have on hand, I hadn't heard of using that until now.
I believe what caused mine was leftovers also, that were supposed to be just a small...
Hope this problem doesn't arise again, but I guess it's just one of those things. One could have the most bomb proof habitat and diet for a chicken and things are still going to happen, from what I've seen.
To all the people that use Ideal, did anyone purchase any bantam breeds? It seems right now try only have straight run in these guys, just wondering if that changes with the temperatures.
Neosporin is actually okay just not the pain relieving kind( I am a vet tech) . This one has a toxic ingredient to it. Personally, I would use nitrafurazone this stuff is great!
I wouldn't vet wrap the wound because it needs to heal by second intention; letting it breath is the best. Once it...
