Looking for some serama hatching eggs.

I'd really like to have some seramas and it seems the only way to do that is to hatch them myself.

    Check out this monster silkie!!!

I got these guys at tractor supply in the bantam assortment... I know that the silkies in that mix are often a terribly poor depiction of their breed, but even an ugly as sin silkie like this one is hilarious. But my goodness why is he or she, I've been calling him a him, so big?!

Well I started by ordering 19 ducks from ideal hatchery Couldn't wait for them to get here and got 3 from tractor supply as well... So 24 ducks. Then I picked up 6 bantam chicks from a TSC. Then ordered 15 geese from cackle hatchery. They only sent 10...still waiting on that refund...out of the...

Ok. Let me start by saying when I get a late quitter I like to cracked it open and see what's happening in there I was candling my latest batch of eggs before I go into lock down tomorrow and I had 6 late quitters. As in a few days ago they were moving. Tonight they are dead, so around 12-15 day...

    OK needing some help here

One of my salmon faverolles didn't come out of the coop today, so I went to check and she was just sitting in the corner. So I picked her up and she walked away gingerly but did walk away... tail up seeming alert... her steps are easy and slow, but steady, you know... so I figured she was...

I need some of you guys that understand genetics to explain something to me...

I hatched 13 eggs from my mixed flock 5-18 and most of the chicks make sense and I can sort of make out who fathered who? But I have 3 that don't make sense. They are definitely salmon faverolles mixes because they came out of faverolles eggs, they have a beards and feathered feet and 5 toes...

    Please somebody help!

Ok, I got 16 turkeys from cackle hatchery 5-16. 8 black Spanish and 8 blue slate. Within the first day 5 of the black Spanish died. The 2nd day another black Spanish died leaving me with 2 black Spanish and the 8 blue slate. Everything seemed alright, but then Wednesday last week one of the...

help! baby turkey has stopped eating

I have 10 poults and one of them has just stopped eating. I noticed it was weak earlier today and picked it up and it's keel bone is sticking out and it is just lighter than the others. These were hatched may 13 or thereabouts. They have done alright, all the others seem to be doing alright. I...

I don't know how people keep poultry without free ranging them

I was thinking about it today and if my chickens weren't just loose all willy nilly all over the yard it would be so much work. I wouldn't be able to keep poultry. It would be expensive to keep them fed and just too much work. I hadn't really thought about it, but it just blew my mind all the...

I have a serious rooster problem.

I love them all for one reason or other...but then I end up with a flock made mostly of roosters. Right now my adult flock is 4 hens and 4 roosters. I have a rooster addiction. Doesn't help that you can't usually sell them...and if you ask me they are all already too old to eat. I have a buff...

Not sure this goes here, but it might...

We live on 4 acres, perhaps half wooded, and half not...My chickens will not go into our large open field...which is where I always envisioned them being...but they leave the coop and head into the woods...they basically follow the same path each day...they come out of the coop and go up and...

First time incubating, think all my eggs are clear

It's day 5 of incubation, and it appears as though all the eggs I can see through, are clear....I kept them at an even temp and turned them when gathering them...It took 3-4 days to gather all 10 eggs...but they were kept around 60 degrees for the storage days...I have only 3 laying hens, and 2...

Hmm. I feel there might have been a mix up at the feed store.

We bought 10 Cornish Rocks, 5 Buff Orpingtons, and 4 Pekin ducks. Then from a different TSC we bought 5 Leghorns, 2 asst. red pullets, and 2 mallards... Then from a local guy I bought 4 EEs... This was on the 6, 7, and 8. Today I put the Pekins outside in the brooder box we made, and I moved...

Well I am dealing with my first chicks and ducklings

On 3/6 we got 4 Pekin ducklings, 5 straight run Buff Orpington, and 10 cornish rocks... On 3/7 we got 2 mallard ducks, 2 assorted red pullets, and 5 straight run leghorns. This has been my first experience with chicks or ducklings, and so far everything is going great. The Pekins are not at...

I bought 4 pekin ducklings at tractor supply the day before yesterday and there might be a problem

All of the ducklings feet are peeling, and have small blackish brownish scabs on them. Do I need to do something for this? Or are they alright, and perhaps were just too closely packed at tractor supply...? I know they were too closely packed at tractor supply, so now that they have a clean area...

I have seen people "say" on here that if your feed gets bugs you should throw it out...

But do chickens not love bugs? Do they not get more nutrition from bugs than from the feed? I don't understand why bugs in the feed is bad. One of my uncles is a parrot fanatic and he would pay extra money for this crazy food that had live bugs in it. You had to keep it in the freezer so the...
