I have 3 ducks, approx ten months old. Two Khaki Campbells and 1 Pekin. Need to rehome due to a move (sold our house). If you or anyone you know is interested in giving these guys a good home, let me know. They are young and tame. They have been raised with my chickens since they were babies...
I have 2 Khaki Campbells (male and female) and 1 Pekin (female). They are 10 months old and very friendly. We have sold our home and need to find a new place for these guys. They are wonderful pets and I am sad to have give them away, but hopefully I can find someone willing to take them. Thank you!
Pirate girl, I have the exact same routine with my ducks and chickens too. I just am not sure if the ducks are as likely to be herded into an enclosure without the chickens "teaching" them. My neighbors have a pond and there are ducks (not pets) that frequent it and I have noticed when a fox or...
There is a large barn on the property, my husband and I could build something inside of it for them to live in. Can they learn to go into a house at night like chickens?
Hello friends, I am a new duck owner. I bought 4 ducklings one year ago and they are living happily with my chickens in their coop. However we have sold our house and will be moving this summer. I will sadly be leaving my chickens and their coop, but we have purchased property with a pond and...
Do they come home to roost like chickens? Or will they just become the neighbor's ducks if the neighbor is the one with the water source? Just trying to do a little research and educate myself to avoid a problem down the road! Thank you both for your help.
I have a flock of 18 hens and 1 bantam rooster. I am thinking of adding 2 ducks. Would the ducks wander down to my neighbors pond while they are free- ranging? The pond is not visible from the coop and it is approx 100 yards away. Would they find it anyway? I do not want to have ducks if they...
I also am fine with them taking a break. I don't prefer to force them to lay if it goes against their nature for the time being. They are a nice flock and kind of like pets more than just "production" birds.
I guess I did not think about molting as they all look the same as they always do. I have noticed more feathers in the run and coop but I thought that was just due to the activity of the birds. I suppose this may be something to consider. This would make me feel better, at least there is a...
Two of the Bantams are about 3 yrs, and one of the LF is also about 3, but other than the juveniles, they are all 6-18 months. I understand the "older" ones would slow down, but not the rest.
If anyone has any ideas about this please help out....
My birds are not laying.
Large clean coop
10 LF hens
3 Bantams
6 juveniles ( not laying yet)
1 rooster (20 birds in all)
These birds live in harmony, eat quality food, have clean water, a large, clean run, safe from predators, have 1-2...
The babies are 4 weeks old, they are in a cage in the coop but separate from the rest, occasionally I put them in a cage and set them in the yard during free range time. The egg production just started to decline the past 10-14 days or so. This is not the first time I have had chicks in the coop...
My bird's egg production is way too low. I have a rooster (bantam) and 13 hens. I also have 6 babies in a separate area of the coop. My 13 laying hens are producing about 4-5 eggs a day and I should easily be getting 10 or more. All the hens are young, the coop is clean, the birds all get along...
I called Mt Healthy this morning and they said their chicks are only vaccinated if requested. My chicks were purchased from a feed store who got them from Mt Healthy....I called the feed store and they DO NOT order vaccinated chicks. This is a lesson about being extra careful about what you...
