I have a really gorgeous Basque cockeral, approximately 16 weeks old. Not crowing yet. The female turned out to be a Dark Cornish by mistake, so have no use for him now. $20 OBO. I am in NW Ohio in Toledo. Willing to meet part way, if necessary.(The photos are when he was younger.
I have a lovely mottled houdan roo, hatched mid April in need of a new home. He has not started crowing, and maybe he never will, since for 3 weeks now he's been HONKING. Sort of cute actually. He really is beautiful.
FREE.
For Sale - 2 1/2 Month Old Pair of Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks. $20 for the pair. Or $8 for just the rooster. (I have 2 female SPPRs, so you can choose which one you prefer.) Also a 2 1/2 month old Mottled Houdan Roo for sale. Gorgeous bird. $6.00. I'm in NW Ohio, but will drive if need be a...
Seriously. I did not order these. I thought when the PO called to say my chicks were in, that they were just confused, since I DO have several orders of hatching eggs coming this week. But NOOOOO, these are LIVE chicks! I have NEVER ordered chicks through the mail before. NEVER! I always go pick...
Looking to add some white egg layers to my flock. I do have some Polish, but those wont exactly be prolific layers. Hubby does not want any white leghorns, as those were the chickens he had while growing up on the farm and says he hated those.
What are your favs?
2 Buff Rocks and 1 Barred Rock in Ohio need re-homed. I think they are all 3 roosters, but frankly don't know for sure. Definite combs going on, especially one of the Buffs. I hatched them out on April 15th of this year. Need to weed out my hatches. May have a Silver Penciled Rock Roo too, but...
Okay, just because it will make me feel better to see it actually written down, this is my official list of breeds I managed to NOT successfully hatch in the last month ...
Cuckoo Marans
White Plume
Blue Laced Plymouth Rocks
Choco/Mauve Rocks

Hi all,
I have a hatched chick that continues to confuse me. The options, as far as what the person who sold me the eggs says, are AMERAUCANA, BARRED ROCK, BUFF ORPS, BUFF ROCK, LAVENDER ORPS, BLUE ORPS, BLUE WYANDOTTE, BLUE MARAN OR SILVER PHOENIX.
Came from a light brown egg. obviously not a...
So, my delivery of 10 Blue Splash Ameraucana eggs arrives today. After opening I am left with 7, and that's before I even candle them. Box was beautiful on the outside. Not a mark on it. Inside it was a nightmare. Like scrambled eggs all over everything. 5 eggs were completely demolished...
I hatched out 5 peeps last week. I am pretty sure that one is a barred rock, 2 are buffed rocks and one is a blue cochin. However, the fifth one is confusing me.
The options are the following ... Ameraucana, Barred Rock, Buff Orp, Buffed Rock, Lavender Orp, Blue Orp, Blue Wyandotte, Blue...
Just a few finishing touches to go on the attached run. Turned out to be 11'x5 1/2', not including the 5 1/2x4 run underneath the coop. A little paint and attaching the roof, then it is complete.
Silver laced Wyandotte from Meyer Hatchery. 5 weeks old today. Has had a large comb and wattles since Day 3. Here IT is at 3 weeks with its lovely rose comb... Roo?
Here IT is today at 5 weeks ...
What say you? Roo or nay?
What Does Everyone Do With Their Extra Incubated and Hatched Chicks? This may seem like a silly question, but seriously. With all the Chicken Addicts out there, surely some of you have suddenly said to yourself, "OMG, what have I done? What am I going TO DO with all these chicks if they ALL...
I realize this is soooo not politically correct, but just wanted to tell everyone from Ohio HAPPY EASTER. I hope you get a bunch of chocolate and that your roosters let you sleep later than normal.
First time incubator here. I won 5 ebay auctions last Wednesday. Bid on ones whose estimated time of arrival was similar. In this case March 25 or 26, Monday or Tuesday. 2 boxes were mailed Wednesday and arrived Saturday. 2 boxes were mailed Saturday and arrived Monday. Final box has not been...
Just bought a used Little Giant (stop groaning) still air over the weekend, as I would like to have some rarer auto-sexing breeds, but don't want to spend oodles on them just to have them die in shipping. Incubating seemed to fit the bill. My plan is to bid on some really cheap eggs on ebay...
I have done a lot of research about the benefits of quarantining. I am definitely not a "take the easy way out" kinda gal, as I have recently quarantined 3 new 6-month hens (purchased a local farmer) from my seven 4 month olds with success. However, I have ordered for pick up 2 EE started...
