I try to as I've lost way too many important things as I forget to back up and boom, get a virus, hardware problem or something else. A $5 thumb drive is a cheap investment.
How about downloading updates, and other computer operations? Just curious.
I've got 8 bantam hens that during the spring, summer and now fall, lay many more eggs than I can use. So, I give the excess to neighbors. Since they get to free range part of the day, their feed bill is next to nothing. Or at least that is one of many excuses to not down size.........
Now...
woke up to chickens going crazy. Went outside, some outside of house/coop, some inside. Look inside, a coon. Went to get gun, no shells, wife moved them and didn't remember where she put them. Now I'm ready to kill 2--not really. Go back, no coon. Later hear dog barking, he has him backed...
While surfing, ran across this. They were selling wild mustangs. Most brought a whopping $200. Are they going for meat? Not into horses, but there were some pretty ones.
As I read different threads, the question needs to be asked, what is the difference?
Show birds are all about the physical type vs. standard. F.E., egg production, carcass qualities have no bearing here.
Commercial birds are all about the production side, F.E., egg production, livability...
Average American eats close to 90 grams of protein per day. Average Japanese eats 56 grams of protein. Average Indian, Chinese eats 33 grams of protein per day.
Average corn yields in USA for years 1990-118bu/A, 2010-153 bu/A. Guess what yields were in 1975? If corn is $7/bu now, what would...
Has anyone watched it? I've just seen bits/piecss but explains how buthering down, animals raised & making young adults get involved. Hands on approach. Every HS should have that in biology.
I think everyone has their own idea as to production line vs. show line. Curious how anyone else looks at it?
I grew up that production lines were selected for.
egg production
Feed efficiency
health
show lines were for:
looks only, & that changes w/breeders opinions.
Good news is...
Didn't make either of the first two. Did I miss anything? Seems lately there are more yard sale items and less chickens. Trying to decide if I want to go in July or not.
My neighbor has a bunch of geese and ducks. No shipping. Pick what you want, pay your $10 apiece and take them home. She has 12 goslings she'll take $3 for each.
In Kentucky so any advice would be welcomed. I've boughton on contract, never sold. Since it's the kids' inheritance, I don't want to mess it up.
Where would I find a contract? all suggestions welcomed.
Did anyone go? Because of rain and softball (cancelled) didn't get to go. Just curious how it went. I think they've raised their parking. Curious if it's worth going to anymore. Last time there, it was more like a flea market than an animal swap meet.
Moved the bird feeder farther from house and have 3 of them. They are getting BOS plus some millet. What else should I leave for them? I've got corn/wheat I can put in mix. Don't use it as other birds can get it from field..
For those of us in upper mid west, you will get molds (mycotoxins) in your corn this year. Some fields are worse than others. I would suggest if you know a farmer that has a bin full of last years corn, go stock up on it (forget how high it will be), pay it and go on.
For those in the south...
Read this on another site where couple of posters were bragging about slowing people down. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine, am I alone????
In Indiana there is a law (not enforced to my knowledge) that you must pull over if there are 3+ cars behind you and you aren't doing the speed limit...
Don't want to ship them in, don't want eggs. Prefer young stock so they will blend in w/my current trio. Will drive some distance to get them. These are for yard use, don't need to be SQ.
