I know this is an older thread but I was wondering if anyone on here sells and ships their eggs? I haven’t been able to find any local to me If any of you are local to me, I’d be happy to get them in person though near Raleigh NC!!
Hey everyone! I need some opinions. I assisted an OP in hatching over the course of yesterday because it was completely shrink wrapped. Afterward it was stumbling around but seemed like most baby chicks that hatch out, so I figured ok, tomorrow it'll be better. This morning I noticed it still...
During the first 18 days I tried to keep it around 40% and then from lockdown on in the 70%. I think it's probably in the correct position... I've just never had one be pipped without progressing for so long.
ok! Thank you! I kept doing searches to see what it should look like but couldn't find anyway. I did increase the hole because it seemed like there was a lot of fluid around the beak/nose but I've put it back in the bator.
Thanks! I opened the pip bigger (the inner membrane was completely pulled away from the egg) and I can see a fair amount of veins in the inner membrane. So I'm leaving it alone.
I've got a OP that pipped about 14 hours ago and it hasn't made any progress but is still breathing. The chick seems like it's head is upside down... and there seems like there's a lot of moisture or liquid in there. Is that normal?
Hey everyone! One of my chicks has pipped but it looks like it's head is upside down... Is that normal? It pipped at least 14 hours ago and hasn't made any progress since.
I had the same issue! I'm not restricted to how many I can have but only wanted a limited number (because I live in a neighborhood). I also wanted specific breeds. I have decided to go the incubate and hatch method. I know that's not realistic for everyone because not everyone has an incubator...
It's hatch day!!!!!! I didn't see anything this morning when I checked before I left for work and to be more realistic they probably won't hatch until tomorrow.... But still!!! Today is day 16 but I think I put them in at night, so technically tonight is day 16. Either way!!
I have also heard that in poultry it is determined when the egg is laid but in reptiles the temperature will decide more males or females. I think that's amazing.
I've got 5 coturnix and 6 eggs in the incubator. I'm trying to decide if I want to buy some jumbo coturnix eggs or just try to breed all of my biggest birds? What do you all think?
