It's been a little while since I've been on this forum but I still lurk from time to time but need to ask a small favor from you all, if you don't mind.
Valentine's Day is coming up and I'm on a mommy birth club since I had a baby in April and got this idea from one of those kind ladies. All...
Thank you, I feel the same way... Why try to fix what isn't broken to begin with. Mites I believe would be easy for our chickens to get considering we have what feels like a million birds that stay in our tree in the backyard year around. I'm not even sure how to check for them or what to look...
Our chickens are 20weeks old and was told we needed to worm them and treat for mites. They aren't showing any signs of either but is it common practice to go ahead and do it anyway? Will we still be able to consume their eggs? How often do you do this? And what do you recommend using?
Thank you!
Anyone familiar with planting and maintaining hydrangeas?! I've got 13 hydrangea plants they are 'Nikko blue' and 'Merritt's supreme'. We have two 20ish foot long beds and I had planned to alternate the 'blue' & 'pink/purple' but was told it would be hard to get these colors. We used a tiller on...
Well we've got everything set up for them in the coop including heat lamp and heated waterer. I just put them out there and so worried, some Fluffed up immediately as if to tell me I'm crazy for putting them outside so cold lol! My little black Orpington was the least happy with me but the light...
Thanks for all the great info! This helps me think about things a little more clearly... I don't worry about anything catching on fire especially since we keep it at least 68 in here and our lamp is 250watt and have never had any issues with over heating the brooder or the chicks. Our brooder...
Where we live were looking at Temps between 20s-60s and this has been the wildest clutch I've had yet indoors, and ready for them to go outside. Will they be ok to put outside now with a heat lamp? They are feathered almost fully and there is 14 of them. We're making some lower roosts in the...
Thank you, I really would love to end up with at least a dozen chicks for a better possibility of hens. We do want to have one rooster but not sure I will keep a roo from this hatch. I would love a blue, black or splash roo from some different lines. Hope to possibly sell hatching eggs and maybe...
Well I ended up ordering 17eggs from papas and received 26! However, 2 came broken and so I sat 24. This hatch I have not added one drop of water wanting to try a truly dry incubation hatch. Temp has been good, humidity gasnt ever dropped below 27% and air cells look great. I checked late last...
Thank you! I took my plug out and kept the door open to that room because it seemed to be causing issues every time I opened the door to drop the temp and humidity. Everything has been steady and humidity has stayed right around 30% a few degrees above or below it, I haven't had to add any water...
Great Information, and I like the NOT opening to add since I have had an issue with this in the past and had some sticky chicks :/... I haven't incubated in quite some time and been trying to read. When do you normally open/close the ventilation plug?
I have my incubator set up with my eggs in it in a smaller spare bedroom. I just put them in there yesterday evening and I've been closely monitoring just because my incubator hasn't been used in a while, been through two moves and want to make sure everything remains functional. So anyway, I...
Gorgeous! :) I just ordered orp hatching eggs from papas too. If all goes well I plan to order more soon as well. I ordered 5 of the SL project eggs. Do you have anymore pics of how those are turning out? I got a couplelemon cuckoo eggs for fun they are gorgeous and 5 BBS.
