Hello!
My daughter is wanting to show orpingtons for 4-H this year and we wanted to get some quality birds for her to show. Can anyone point me in the directions of breeders of black or blue Orpingtons?
Thank you!
Does anyone here sell roosters? I'm really very happy with my hens, they are black and have a great look about them, but it seems all my roosters have some redness to their waddles and combs. I'd like to get rid of that if I can, and am not sure that will be possible to breed out using these...
Also, I find it truly amazing I never noticed that coloring on his tail before. I guess since I wasn't looking for it, I didn't take note. Ah well. I just don't want to sell my poults as something thry aren't.
Ok, since I suck at genetics, what would a rusty slate and a blue slate make? I guess i might have to take him out and put my spare tom in. I know for sure my spare is a blue slate, I just hate that breeding season will be pretty much over by the time I'm sure the eggs are coming from him...
Ok, here are pictures of my turkeys. I wish they were clearer, but it's impossible with my crappy camera and the fact they run into the back of their pen area out of the light. My tom does seem to have a small amount of brownish color at the base of his tail, but I never noticed it before?The...
No, they are blue slates. I'll go take a picture of them all here in a few.
Is it possible they are lilac or red blue bronze? But I'm not even sure how that would happen. The guy I got the new hens from had only blue slates, so they should be pure slates. The tom looks just like every other...
We've been raising blue slates for the past four years and hatching each spring. Last year we got a couple new hens and a new tom from two different places to add to our flock and keep our bloodlines diverse. I didn't hatch many last year because we had life stuff that made hatching low on the...
That's awful. I guess there are always people that will take advantage of people and ruin it for others. I sell on eBay sometimes and have bought off eBay, and been pretty lucky for the most part, but if I can buy eggs from here, I'm more likely to do it because I trust this community more.

Mine are packed to the gills. I just bought a new incubator this year (so i now have 3) and I still don't have enough space. I'm not sure my husband will let me get a cabinet incubator, which is what I really want. He thinks I'll just fill that to the gills and still have eggs I'll need to...
6 Blue Slate Turkey eggs plus extra if I get them
Bids start at $20
Shipping is $16
Auction ends tomorrow (Wednesday) at noon eastern so I can ship them tomorrow afternoon.
My incubators are entirely full and I don't want these eggs to go to waste. I have about 90% fertility on the ones in my...
I'm sorry that happened :/ you definitely aren't the first person. If you paid through PayPal you can dispute your purchase, as I believe you have 180 days from the transaction date. Otherwise I'm not sure what your options are.
I hope you are able to get some good ones eventually, as they are...
To be honest, that looks nothing like a cemani and I think the breeder needs to give you your money back. Go to Greenfire Farms website and look at their cemanis. They are all black. When people talk about seeing some color in their cemanis, they typically mean a toenail might be white or they...
Do you do this at one week or some other time? We tried feather sexing as day olds and it was not accurate. I'm not sure if we needed to wait longer or not. Everything I've read about Orpingtons makes me think the only for sure way is through vent sexing though, and we have not been able to...
Yeah, I've told my daughter not to run from them but she did anyway and now they know she is afraid. One bit her on the leg the other day and he is lucky he is still alive. My husband is not fond of animals that hurt our daughter. Just gotta make it through breeding season or hope someone buys...
We've been keeping busy here. Been hatching out some lav orps and turkey poults. Finally got my ducks situated so I'll be putting some of their eggs in the incubator soon as well. And my geese are sitting on a nest of 7 eggs. Lots of babies here!
Also looking to sell our extra American buff...
I finally got eggs and my female is currently sitting on a nest of 7 eggs. I'm hoping some of them hatch.
Unfortunately, it seems we have 4 males to our 1 female, so gonna have to rehome some males.
