I agree! Beautiful chickies!!!!!!! I taped up the feet. I used bandage tape because I figured it wasn't quite so sticky. It seems to be doing ok with the big feet. Luckily it just hatched this afternoon, so it's sleeping a lot, and not trying so hard to get around. I'll leave it on for a...
How long til your toes straightened out? We missed our 3 week old hatch, & never noticed her toes, but the one that just hatched seems to be having a hard time walking, and the feet are just all over crooked. It's only a couple of hours old, so I'm hoping things straighten out
Wow!!!! Congrats on your hatch! We had only one last night, another pipped but it started yesterday, and has not progressed so not sure if it's going to make it :(
We had to help the hatch last night. The shell was really thick, so I'm nervous that when we opened the incubator a couple of times...
First pip this morning! 1 day earlier than expected. Can't edit to see what happens. Wasn't even sure if this one was fertile! I can't seem to see anything through our blue eggs. It is an ameraucana/faverolle mix
Any advice on integrating new chicks with our lonely 3 week old?
We have one pipping already! I am really surprised because we put them in lockdown on Sunday afternoon. It's an ameraucana/faverolle mix. Can't wait to see what traits it gets. I think I know which hen it came from so it will be interesting. Any luck with intergrading yours? Looks like I'll be...
Oh yes, she is in the house. We are in NH so still the middle of winter here. I'm hoping where she is alone she will be ok with new chicks. She will be 3 weeks on tues, & the others are due wed/thurs. I know what you mean about being home when they hatch. I'm hoping mine come thurs cuz then I...
Yes, as of yesterday. We only have 2 faverolles tho. We have some ameraucana/faverolles that we are not sure of because we can't see through the shell when we candle them. Our chick us so big already. She changes daily. Still think she is a girl, but not 100%. How are yours doing?
Yep, that looks like mine. Good thing she is a hen, because I'm very attached now. She gets lots of cuddle time because she is the only one. Hopefully next thurs or Friday we will have some more. She is pretty lonely. She really wants to fly. It is so cute
Do you always give chicks vaccines? My faverolles are the sweetest. Even my rooster still doesn't mind being held. He is almost too sweet. Doesn't really stick up for himself. We have Guineas too, and I have seen them drag him into the coop even tho he is 3times bigger than them
You will love the faverolles! We have one rooster, and 4 hens. They are all very sweet, and good layers. I'm thinking our chick is a hen, but not 100%. Our next hatch date is the 26-27. We put them in in the afternoon, so could go either day. We have a few faverolles, & the rest are mixes...
Thank you! She is so sweet. Loves to cuddle. Just feel bad because she is our only one. More in the incubator coming the last week of February (fingers crossed). Post pics of yours as it dries. My rooster has a crooked toe. Not sure if it is hereditary or not. Hoping not, but I was really...
I was wondering the same thing. We only had one chick hatch from our 12 that we put in the incubator. We put another 21 in the day after it hatched. Hoping to get more chicks, and was planning on putting them in with the lonely chicks. Will be 3 weeks apart.
