hi guys, i havent been on her in a long time due to school and my part time job keeping me busy day and night.
I have been adding on to the chicken run attached to the coop and i have put chain link around it.
Here in Tennessee there are some chicken hawks that like flying around checking out...

Hi there, I ordered my chicks from mcmurray and they were all alive in the box when i brought them home and within abt 8 hours of being in the brooder, 5 died, one died this morning and id hate to say so but i think theres another thts not looking too good :(

Hi, im finishing up the inside of my chicken coop and the run, and i wanted to know what the best type of fencing is for the run?
I have owls and other meat eating animals around my house and i heard some of them can rip threw regular chicken wire.
Any suggestions?

Hi, i ordered some chicks ad they are supposed to be here tomarrow (monday) or tuesday, but im going out of town next weekend and i dont really know what i should do.
I was hoping someone could tell me what i should do for them before i leave... If i leave extra food for them, will they eat it...

When you say you put sand, do you mean dirt from out side?
And when you put it in their brooder, do yu put it everywhere or in one spot like in a pile?
Im afraid if i put in a pile, they'll eat more of that then their actual feed.

I have chicks coming soon and wanted to kno if having grit available for them is a good idea?
If so, what age of the chickens should i stop feeding them chick grit and start feeding them adult grit?
If grit is a good idea, should i have it ready for them as soon as i put them in the brooder?

2-3 hours isnt long really..if they are chicks you ordered than they should deffinately arrive oka. Chicks usually live 2-3 days without food or water for the first few days they hatch.
