i have 3 speckled Sussex chickens (2 pullets and 1 cockerel) in my mixed flock of 20 something birds. they are by FAR the friendliest of the bunch! they are not very high on the pecking order, and thus are subject to the flock bullies, but that's nothing a little TLC wont help! not very loud...

My 3 week old BPR pullet is the best chick in the bunch! Smart, curious, she jumps on my arm and lets me rub her chest and back...a must have for every chicken lover!
I would love to have some seramas next year, but im worried that they wouldn't do well. I live near st Louis and we have hot summers and cold winters. I don't have power in the coop, and thus cant use a heater or lamp... any ideas?
