    EMERGENCY Very Weak Gosling

She is not doing any better unfortunately :( . However, she does not seem any worse. Surprisingly, because she is not consuming much as far as I know. I would have thought that she would be looking at least a little better if it is a niacin or vitamin issue. Her companion is still as healthy as...

    EMERGENCY Very Weak Gosling

Thank-you. I have been giving her niacin and extra vitamins. She is not worse today, but I wouldn't say she is any better. If so, not much at all.

    EMERGENCY Very Weak Gosling

Guys, I have had nothing but bad experiences with goslings. The past two day I have noticed one of my two goslings pretty weak. I am rather concerned about her. She is acting relatively alert, is not wheezing, and has no bumps or lumps. However, she is extremely wobbly and weak. Sometimes when...

    The hits keep coming

It could very well be a fox as well. Our coop is roughly 20 or so feet from our house. We have dogs, and we chain them outside when they want to go out which allows them about 10 feet of room to move around in any direction. I am sure the smell of dog is very strong. Anyway, all of our dogs were...

Chickens killed with only heads eat

It could be a fox or coyote, maybe even a raccoon. If more than one body is missing, and all of your chickens and ducks were killed, it is not an owl, or any other bird of prey. Wouldn't be a mink or weasel, as whole bodies are missing, although they would kill everything in one go.

    Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

Not counting the blue babies, in Morbius' photo, I see 10 females and 2 males that I can identify. But I could be wrong

    Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

When we had our FGCM as chicks, you could definitely tell which one was a male. And in pictures, I have often figured out the same is true. The white spot does not seem to have a role, but if you have lighter/grayer chicks with more of a light brown on their head, they should be male. Hens are...

    Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

Okay! Do you know how much the shipping should be so I can set it aside?

    Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

I think it would be really interesting to have some of them thrown in with the GCMs! I am glad I reread your posts and saw that they are French feather-legged as I want to work on those instead of the clean legged ones.

    Let's talk Golden Cuckoo Marans!

So for just a quick reminder, is light golden/yellow the preferred standard of perfection for the GCM roosters? Or is it dark/ish golden? Morbius, I have time to incubate some eggs now, so if you could ever send some my way, I would be glad! If you ever have the time, just send me a shipping quote!

Examples of three tasks you’d like your BackYard Robot to take over / do for you: Changing the coop and...

    Protection Against Hawks

Netting should work quite well for just hawks or eagles. Also, a good rooster could also deter away the hawks. (But it you have my Light Brahma rooster, he clogs up the coop door and just screams his head off in terror. Leaving his poor hens barred outside until our Golden Cuckoo Marans rooster...

BLACK COPPER MARANS HATCHING EGGS 12+

I'm very interested in getting some fertilized Black Copper Marans eggs! However, I will not be able to incubate any for a while. Is there a possibility you may have some more available in several weeks?

    Daytime chicken attack

Sounds like a weasel, or a mink, or a fischer. They can, and DO come out during the day to find food. A Fischer came out during the day about a month back, went into the coop and decapitated a hen. We believe our roosters FINALLY chased the thing off after it feasted for a bit, because I think...

Cackle hatchery's Hatchery Surprise- Anybody got this before?

Oh wow, amazing! I LOVE Spitzhaubens, but the roosters can be very difficult! But they are all VERY pretty. I think you have two pullets, so no mean roosters! I think the mini "devil horns" for a comb fit them well, lol!

Cackle hatchery's Hatchery Surprise- Anybody got this before?

I wanted to add that the last two seem to be Appenzeller Spitzhaubens. And they both look to be female! It's hard to tell in the pictures, but if they have dark on the top of the head, I'm pretty confident they will be pullets.

WATCH A BABY DUCK EMBRYO GROW IN REAL TIME!!! LIVE STREAM

This is amazing! If it looks healthy, it could just be growing slowly due to the slight differences it still is probably experiencing due to the interference with a hole. I also think it is very educational!
