    Is This Normal?

I posted this on the emergencies forum but have yet to receive an answer and I am worried... Hi all, My ladies are about 8 weeks old now. When I went out this afternoon to feed them, I noticed that one of them (my barred rock) had a droopy wing and is missing some feathers in the middle of the...

Please help, is this normal molting or is it something else?

Hi all, My ladies are about 8 weeks old now. When I went out this afternoon to feed them, I noticed that one of them (my barred rock) had a droopy wing and is missing some feathers in the middle of the wing. She is eating and drinking normally and is very excited when I come out with treats. I...

    Covered Feeder?

Hi all, My ladies are now old enough to be in the coop/run. My issue is that I can not seem to find a covered feeder! I didn't think that it would be so difficult to find. What do you all use? my main goal would be to stop rain from spoiling the food. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

What do you place your waterer on?

I just got my order in of the bottle top nipples....amazing! I was worried that the chicks wouldn't understand how to use it, but within minutes they were all climbing over each other to give it a try.....thank you so much for this idea- I think it will save me soooo much time!!

What do you place your waterer on?

Well I checked this morning and their bedding was dry, there were only a few pine chips in their water and best of all, no poop! (I ended up placing the Tupperware container on the floor of the brooder and putting the pine chips around it making it level). Thanks for the tips! So happy I am not...

What do you place your waterer on?

Runner, I find that if you leave wet bedding it starts to stink (and it isn't good for the chicks). I have had to change the litter EVERY DAY for the past few days. I have now raised the waterer on a tupperware cupcake holder - now it is level which will hopefully eliminate the water spillage...

What do you place your waterer on?

Hi all The chicks are two weeks old now and doing great. My only issue is the darn waterer. It keeps leaking and there is always pine chips in it. I know that the waterer would probably not leak if it was on an even surface - hard to do on pine chips. What do you all use to raise the waterer and...

    additives to the babies water

Also, I am waiting on my raw unfiltered ACV to come in. I ordered it after I saw that two of the chicks had pasty butt. I ended up using the regular ACV that you can find at the grocery store in their water thinking that it wont hurt to try...a week later I am still waiting for my order but have...

1 week old chicks trying to fly out of brooder?

I ended up putting an old plate on top until I could get the low to the ground horizontal feeder. I know that I will definitely use the vertical one when the babies are old enough for the coop. And I am sure the horizontal one will come in handy as well...these girls love to eat!!

1 week old chicks trying to fly out of brooder?

Mine are doing the same thing, they have just realized that they have wings! The past few days all they have been doing is stretching and preening. Then, I woke up two mornings ago and found this: Two of my little peeps had managed to get themselves stuck inside the feeder! Needless to say I...

How do you Clean your Brooder?

Hi All! My week old chicks have graduated from paper towels to pine shavings. I need to clean out their living area today but not sure how to do it..(they are in a galvanized tub similar to those found at TSC). Should I just clean around the chicks or try to wrangle the little chirp balls into a...
