One of our birds passed a lash egg yesterday. We have 10 sharing a large coop & run, so we can't be sure which one it was. I've read some stuff that said this often occurs to older birds, we have one Rhode Island Red from our 1st flock that is 9 years old, so I'm assuming it's her.

We did a little research and decided to drain the fluid from her abdomen. She immediately perked up, ate a bunch of yogurt, drank water and set to eating from the feeder!

She doesn't seem to be in any pain, so we're going to keep her warm and comfortable.
We have an old Rhode Island Red (5 or 6 years), that has a very swollen abdomen and is having a difficult time walking, she kinda waddles like a penguin.
Her abdomen swelling is not firm, in fact, it seems very soft and spongy. Her comb is layed over as well and she is very lethargic.

We have a new flock and I'm afraid one of them is a rooster. They are about 4 months old & this one (an Ameraucana) has started crowing. It has no spurs, but I've read that sometimes it takes a year for the spurs to show.
