How to get a chicken used to bieng stroked? And do chickens have different accents/tones when they'r

Hello. Sybil and Tosca, our Rhode Rock and Bluebell love being stroked whilst they're in the nesting area. You can even pick them up. Letty, our Light Sussex started laying a lot later. However, she doesn't like being stroked or picked up. Any way me or mum can get her used to being handled...

    Well ok then...

Err, really can't tell if Sybil laid this egg, or Letty laid this egg... Sybil's eggs usually turn out to be double yolkers, whilst Tosca lays single yolk eggs...and she's already laid this morning. The chicken coop cleaning contest in kent

Yesterday, I was in Kent, England, with some other people representing the David Lewis Centre in a competition that involved cleaning chicken coops. We lost, to the home team on the farm, but it was interesting. These were proper chicken sheds, and not the small, three bay laying coops that the...

Confused roosters that think you are a hen.

This has happened several times, and recently, Martin, one of the older roosters tried to chicken waltz around me. Has anyone else had this happen? It's funny when they do it.

    Hello!

Hello there! I'm Steamdemon, and whilst I don't own chickens, I do look after them at a place called the David Lewis Centre, England. The reason I joined Backyard Chickens is because I want to learn how to understand their body language, as well as their behaviour.
