Okay, thanks. ^_^
No I get I messed up. I went against everything I have read.
The hen in question is doing her job fine. She's a sweet bird who loves people and is the top girl in my flock.
I can only hope the chick hatches and she accepts it, but it all seems to be going alright.

HELPP!!!!
So my mom had me open the eggs. One was still alive.
I didn't hurt it, I cracked the egg along the top the way the chick would, then I took a small bit of shell way so I could see if it moved.
It did move. ...
By my own miscalculation I punctured the inner lining.
Should I...
I know these suck, it's still light here and I don't want to take them out for very long. The first and last are the newest eggs, the middle is the one who's on day 21.
So heres my situation:
I had a broody hen (GLW), and I thought little chicks with a mama would be cute. I had plenty of room so I asked a friend for three hatching eggs.
She gave me a Samon F X Dark cornish, Brama X Dark Cornish and an UNKNOWN egg.

They are set up in a indoor brooder with food, water, and a heat lamp.
They day before they...
Yes.. turns out I had a three gallon jug of corn oil that rupshered. The chickens ate and drank the oil and it covered their heads and necks as they slashed it about.
Everyone turned out fine, although I got extra shiny eggs for the next few days.
Sorry for the false alarm guys, but...
We really are pretty new to anything show quality. (I'm the friend)
Do you have any suggestions? We thought about a solid color cochin because it would be easier to breed true.
Our biggest problem has been finding truly show quality birds, most owners seem to think any 'pretty' bird is show...
I like my Cayuga quite a bit. She is 14 weeks and loves to play and splash in the water.
I have been told that Cayugas are less friendly toward people but she is by far the cuddliest of my ducks.
Yesterday I noted that my New jersey giant pullet had what looked like oil on the back of her head. It looked like someone had greased her feathers down back there.
Before I put them to bed I also noted that her face was dripping wet and her comb and wattles had taken on and extremely bright...
